Store document files in your iPhone Photos folder

There is a way to store document files in your iPhone “Photos” folder. In addition to displaying pictures, “Photos” will also display files that are in one of the following formats:
-Graphics Interchange Format (*.gif)
-JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg)
-Portable Network Graphics (*.png)
-Device Independent Bitmap (*.bmp)
-Tag Image File Format (*.tif)
-Windows Metafile (*.wmf)
-Enhanced Metafile (*.emf)

How would this be used? From a personal situation let’s say you are visiting the in-laws and you want to have iPhone ready access to a favorite recipe, your daughter’s first grade report card, and a page of some funny jokes you heard.

From a business situation, you may want to have a copy of a presentation, budget numbers in a spreadsheet, and a copy of a 5 page contract.

The steps to pull any of those documents into “Photos” is the same. Basically for any or all of the above items you would have to:
(1)Save the file(s) in an application that supports one of the above formats,
(2)Copy the saved file into your “My Pictures” folder on your PC (I would assume a Mac has a similar folder). I would recommend creating a subfolder labeled “Docs” or something else to have it stand out from your regular picture folders.
(3)Sync the new folder to your iPhone

For PC users running Windows and having MS Office, PowerPoint and Publisher are the only applications that allow you to save a file in one of the above formats. The easiest files to convert would be from either of those applications. Let’s say you have a 10 page presentation. From within PowerPoint, save your presentation as a jpg file (or you can use any of the others formats from above). PowerPoint will save it as 10 separate files each having a .jpg extension. You would then copy those 10 files into your Docs folder under My Pictures.

For a Word or Excel file, you would have to copy and paste the pages you want into PowerPoint and then save that files as another jpg file or one of the other formats.

For the report card, you would have to scan it first (provided you have a scanner), then pull the image into PowerPoint saving is as a jpg or one of the other formats.

Lets say after doing all your copying and pasting and saving the file as, you have in you’re My Pictures\Docs subfolder the following items: (1) a 10 page presentation listed as Slide1.jpg, Slide2.jpg, etc to Slide10.jpg (2) a favorite chili recipe listed as chili.jpg, and (3) your daughter’s 1st grade report card saved as rcard.jpg.

In the \My Pictures\docs subfolder, the files will be listed in alphabetical order with chili first, then the report card, followed by the 10 slides. Once the sync is done that is how they should appear in “Photos” in an album labeled “Docs”.

I tried this once and it worked for me. You may have to experiment with some of the different file formats listed above. The sequence of the files listed may be different on your system. I believe it should work for everyone after you experiment with it.

The idea itself is just storing a picture for those who dont feel like reading. You simply convert a document to a picture format. It is not really a .txt or .doc but you can read it and such.

Yes good op i agree, question on the itoner, after the ringtones are created, i heard when you power off your iphone u lose the ringtones and have to resync to get them back,,is that true, and does itoner hack or mod the iphone in any way, would an update wipe it off or the ringtones off? was wondering thanks
