Once Outlook 2003 has disabled the Apple Sync Add In:
Click on HELP, select Disable Items, select the Apple Sync Add In and click ENABLE.

Next click on TOOLS, OPTIONS and select the OTHER tab, click on ADVANCED OPTIONS, click on COM Add-Ins…deselect both Apple Add-Ins, click OK.

CLOSE Outlook.

Connect iPhone.

Once iPhone is connected to iTunes, select the iPhone and launch Outlook.

Next click on TOOLS, OPTIONS and select the OTHER tab, click on ADVANCED OPTIONS, click on COM Add-Ins…Select both Apple Add-Ins, click OK.

Return to iTunes and click SYNC.

Once iPhone SYNC is complete, return to Outlook and deselect both Apple Add-Ins until the next time.

Well, after an hour on the phone with Apple (level 2 support), they basically admitted that they are aware of a problem with the iTunes sync plugin for Outlook. They have escalated the problem to engineering, and are hoping for resolution soon (whatever that means).

I have spent (wasted) about 5 hours trying everything I could find on the apple forums, here, and anywhere with only transient luck. After reinstalling iTunes and re-enabling the plugin manually in Outlook, I got the iPhone to sync contacts and calendar once. Since then, no syncing, and I still get the Outlook error every time it launches.

Let's hope they fix this soon.

Same here. I spent 1 /12 hours with microsoft and at the end they sent me to apple for 2 1/2 hours and at the end they said to go back to micro soft. Tomarrow i will be back with microsoft ... appears that they are blaming each other but in the meantime my $600 phone does not sink!!!!!!!!

Default Outlook Mail/Folder sync problem

I am able to sync with Outlook 2003 Calendar with no problem, but I am not able to sync with Outlook mail. I can access Outlook mail via IMAP, but only get access to INBOX not other Outlook folders. Any ideas?

I don't know what you mean by the above, do you mean finished syncing
<Click on HELP,>
In which program...I've clicked on help in Itunes and Outlook and I do not see a menu item "Disable items"
<select Disable Items, select the Apple Sync Add In and click ENABLE.>
nor do I see Apple Sync Add In

Next click on TOOLS, OPTIONS and select the OTHER tab, click on ADVANCED OPTIONS, click on COM Add-Ins…deselect both Apple Add-Ins, click OK.

Default Outlook Calnder Won't Sync

Love the new iphone. Last reamaining issue is it won't sync with my outlook calendar. I am using XP Pro, Exchange Server and oulook 2003 with my own mail boxes on my own exchange server. Contacts, URLs, music and photos sync over the cable just fine. email (after quite a few tweeks by my not so cheap third party network guru) downloads to the iphone over the edge network, wirelessly with IMAP just fine (looks way cool too). emailes can be sent out from the iphone in the same fashion with no problems. Calendar won't sync at all. This is a big deal for me as I have been using a Blackberry for serveral years and it synced calander and email wirelesly and efortlessly, not to metion that I live by my $%%%#&!! calendar and I need it on my phone!!!!. On the phone with apple for over two hours last night. After a whole lot of "try this" and try that" and an esclation to level 2 support they directed me to upgrade my Outlook to SP2. Did so. Problem persists. I have had a number of PDAs over the years and none of them had trouble syncing my calendar with outlook. This is truly the coolest gadget ever invented in the way of a phone\PDA, but for $600.00 USD I can't understand how apple released it with such a huge flaw. Ideas on how to resolve this peacefully?

I am still on hold as of now..
we got the 'new' calendar to syn...but that is doing me no good..
I need the stuff I already have.
And again..
I have had smart phone after smart phone and no problems with Active Sync..
I hope they fix this.

They just need to bite the bullet and offer support for MS ActiveSync.

Red face My Fix For Calendar Syna

oops I meant SYNC..

Ok..
well when the iPHone would not sync with my Outlook 2007 on my PC.. I freaked.
So.. the other day I bought a MAC..
Same problems..
Although on the PC and on the MAC when I made a 'new' calendar..it synced.
So today I downloaded my Plaxo to my iCal and address book..
then I opened up Entourage..
The things that were super important to me I moved to Entourage and synced that on the iPHone... and no problem.
Now..to do that every month is going to be a pain in the rear.. but hopefully they will find a fix in the meantime and I won't have to worry.
Any questions let me know.
D

Make sure that you log into your account on Plaxo and turn off all of the email marketing settings. You are considered "opt in" by default and Plaxo has a troubled history as a past source of spam.

That said, it seemed to work extremely well with extracting the calendar data from Outlook.
