The phone has some pretty serious glitches for business users, that's for sure. The fact they failed to integrate it with Exchange is mind boggling. Their audience would have doubled if they would have focused a little more on the business side... So far I love it as a toy, but I would really like to be able to use it as a business tool.

Default a little more information

Having spent time with apple support, up to level 2, what seems to be happening is that calendar entries made with outlook previous to 2003 (I've been using it since outlook 1997) do not get transferred. There may be other problems, but this is definitely one of them.

iTunes should read the file entries, MS should have an option to update, but, as of this moment, neither has. Early adopter syndrome...

The best solution should be an update to iTunes, so we're not mucking about with our data files. Next would be a simple routine to re-save all entries in calendar to 2003 format.

IF you don't have many exceptions to recurring appointments (making changes loses all exceptions) you can edit your appointments, changing length of time, for example, and then saving, and then changing it back. Any saves automatically cause the program to update to 2003 format. Then the sync will be successful...

Red face

I am using Outlook 2007... I really don't want to start changing things on my part.. I am waiting to see if they are going to make an update..as they told me they are possibly working on a 'fix' for it.. so they know it is there..
In the meantime we wait..and quite honestly aren't we stuck anyhow? THey will not be doing any refunds I'm sure.
I am still going to get a MAC just to see.

Default Outlook 2002 Sync Problem

Yes, I am having the exact same issue. From reading this (and other) threads, it doesn't sound like upgrading my version of Office is going to help too much, either.

when you say reloading the phone a couple of times.. what exactly did you do?
do you use a PC or MAC?
I've redone Itunes..closed down the phone, etc.. no luck.
haven't tried sending E mails...my only serious issue at this point is the calendar..
ugh.

Default Palm/Pocketmirror conflict?

I also was struggling with getting Outlook 2003 to sync my calendar with my iPhone. I was getting some appointments to pull over, but other's weren't. It would also pull over appointments I created on the iPhone, but wouldn't pull over new appointments created in outlook. I tried everything mentioned in the thread and had no success.

I was a former Palm/Pocket Mirror user so I uninstalled Pocketmirror and my Palm sync software and that cleared up the problem for me. So if you have other conduits set up to sync Outlook to other devices, they may be conflicting with the iTunes sync conduits. Try uninstalling all other sync software and see if that helps.

May I say that your not helping, You should be asking apple that question. People who buys these products are made to believe what they are buying are reliable products that are compatible to what they have been told they are. You should be helping instead saying that.

Ok, I got it to work with Entourage on OSX.

1) Update your Entourage by opening the application and selecting Help>Check for Updates.
2) In Entourage go to Entourage>Preferences and you will see this screen:

Check the two boxes you see that I have checked, this will transfer your Entourage contacts to your Address Book and iCalendar. Be sure to merge them if they are horribly out of sync, don't do a replace or you might lose something.

3) Connect your iPhone to iTunes and check the following boxes:

Hit "Apply" and it will sync your contacts and your calendar with your iPhone.

As for PC users... you're SOL until we get a patch I fear.
