this is the only thing I did and after this it works.
my problem was: every time when itune said sync is done, everything got transfered from computer to iphone except calendar, which had nothing from computer.
read the whole thread, still can't get the sync to work!
hi from a apple newbie - I know this thread has been ignored for a while now, but I just got a new iphone which I unlocked with ziphone to use with tmobile.
using microsoft outlook 2003, I've run through many different solutions people offered up - still get no sync at all between phone and outlook, not for calender, not for contacts, nothing! it only syncs my bookmarks successfully, just doesn't even see anything else in my outlook! i am using the newest version of itunes, 7.6.1.9
several people commented how on their outlook they only had one itune related plug in under the COM add-ins instead of 2 - I am running into the same thing....any one figure that out??
I currently have a tmobile wing and my wife has a tmobile dash - with 2 different phones, each time we connect to microsoft outlook it prompts to ask which account we want to sync with (well, actually it recognizes the different phones).....could the 2 user accounts be causing a problem?
finally, does the name I give the Phone have anything to do with it? Under outlook 2003, I just have the account as "My Name"....with the phone, I set it up with "My Name's iPhone"....
as I went through the jailbreak and unlocking with ziphone and everything with the phone itself works except all the syncing, I'm hesitant to redo things to test my luck again......any suggestions please?
Wow, this is quite a post... took me most part of the weekend just to look through and I guess this is one of the most persistent problem case with the iPhone... I have read this for so long, it's only fair to share my bits of the experience.
My configuration:
Windows XP SP2 running Outlook 2003
iTune v.7.6.1.9
iPhone firmware v.1.1.4
I got this unit just about less than 2 weeks (moving on from my trusty Palm TX), and everything seemed fine - Got my calendar and contacts sync over from my good old Palm Desktop over to Outlook 2003, did a sync via iTune, and viola, everything just works the way it should. Few days ago, I noticed some of my newer schedule appointments didn't sync over both ways - that got me into troubleshooting mode.
So started with resetting the iPhone (thought that it might be some settings I screwed up while tinkering with its systems), then resetting the iTune - uninstall/reinstall - and worked my way up to resetting Outlook 2003.
Then I found myself reading in here, trying most of every way mentioned, and still to no avail. In the process, I uninstalled Outlook (backup my contacts, calendar, etc. first, of course) then reinstall. And guess what, it worked, but it worked ONCE only. I mean, everything sync okay both ways right after my first reinstall. It would work perfectly until you call it the day, shutdown your computer, come back the next day, and it would sync no more. Try this uninstall/reinstall Outlook trick one more time (didn't even bother to do backup data, since all the data would stay there anyway), and it syncs again.
It's a pain in the rear if I have to do this every time...
Okay, my friend's iPhone is using outlook and her contacts list has two or three of the same person. Also, e-mail is not working at all.
She's on 1.1.4 and it's never been hacked. Going through and deleting the extra contacts would take hours because she normally has several hundred contacts, so I'm hoping someone can help.
hi wailly - thanks for the post.....I too am running iphone 1.1.4, itunes 7.6.1.9, windows xp 2003 with sp 2.....but i can't get anything to sync...
by uninstalling outlook do you mean reinstalling the whole office package? did you figure out a way to do it without the install/reinstall?
each time i've tried sync itunes says "syncing contacts...syncing calenders" and each thing is up for like 1 sec, then takes maybe a few secs to sync bookmarks, which actually do sync to the phone....
I don't know if having 2 users on outlook makes any difference? i figured the itunes or iphone would prompt me for which one i want to sync with!
I have tried and tried in vain to get the iPhone to sync with Outlook 2007. iTunes indicates that it is doing a sync, but when it is completed, there are no contacts or calendar data on the device. Anyone else have this problem/discovered a solution?
Dave: The phone is syncing with outlook for contacts and calander, but the calender grid will not display things you have added to either platform after a sync. Look in the events list for the events you have added that seem to be missing. I have heard that apple is working on a fix, but no idea when it will be ready.
For example: I add an appointment for next wednesday in outlook 2007 calendar grid. It is there (I open and close to be sure). I sync with the phone. Now I look and its not on the grid. I look in the events list and I can find it. It does appear on the phone however.
