Default It works!!!

Yes!!! The form is the reason. iPhone does not recognize custom forms!! I follow the URL (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/201089/EN-US/) to download a Microsoft macro to change the message class for all exisiting events, and now, all appears in my iPhone!! That's why it does not work for some people because some company like mine has a customer form.

I am so happy. Hope this helps others too. I literally spent 2 days on this silly thing!

Is there a way to post this to Apple so that they can fix this in next iTune release?

That word document seems to work great!

But how do you keep new events using the same msg class? When I add new events to my calendar I have to rerun the document before it is synched onto the iphone each time

Default Finally Success, I don't know how for sure.

I finally got my calendar to sync. I have outlook express 2003 for my home email and outlook 2007 for my work. The IT folks put 2007 on my laptop so I could sync to both my emails from home. I could not get my calendar (and I need it very bad). Then I tried to sync to my work computer, still no calendar. Yesterday I synced to my work computer and checked only the calendar option, it gave me the option to replace everything on my iphone with this sync or merging the information. I check merge so I could keep my music and stuff from home. I sure don't remember having that option last week. Anyway it worked. I don't care that I have to sync to 2 computers I'm just glad I have my calendar. I was seriously thinking of going back to my Cing 8125 just so I could keep up with all my meetings.
Sorry, more information, I have windows XP Professional at home and work and kept getting the microsoft sync error. Of course Apple told me it sounded like a microsoft problem. I had 3 IT guys (that are really good) working on it at the hospital (they all have an iphone and theirs worked perfectly, just not mine). Not one of them could make it work. They also tried to synch it to my work computer with no luck. Why suddenly did it work? Will it work next week again? This phone is really confusing me but I still love it (because I'm sick and twisted. I also buy tools I don't need at Home Depot, Ha-Ha).
I have no idea if this will help anyone because I don't know where my success came from, but thought I would post it anyway, just in case.

Default iphone needs 7.4 itunes

Then I made the big mistake. I "upgraded" my copy of iTunes to 7.3.2 and my Outlook 2007 calendar stopped syncing.

I tried to revert to 7.3.1 (no longer found on the Apple website; found a copy on filehippo.com) and the calendar sync still no longer worked. Spent about 2.5 hours on the phone with Apple support uninstalling and re-installing software, setting up new users, new calendars and the sync still didn't work. However, the Apple tech did give me some useful advice which I later applied to my original solution - to roll-back the iTunes version to 7.3.1 that worked.

Here's the trick that worked for me -- The uninstall function in the Windows control panel does not remove all components of iTunes. You must remove the following four application programs in this order. Do not re-boot until all 4 applications and other folders/files are removed.
1) Apple Mobile Device Support
2) Quicktime
3) iTunes
4) Apple Software Update
After these applications are removed, navigate to the Program Files folder and remove any folders (and the files contained within) labeled Quicktime and iTunes. Also remove any iTunes or Quicktime folders/files from the c:\WINDOWS\system32 directory.
Then re-boot.

Following the re-boot, open Outlook 2007 and remove the iTunes Outlook Addin. I found that the addin was made "inactive;" it needs to be removed. Remove it by clicking "Go" on the Manage COM Addins dialog box, highlighting the iTunes addin(s) and clicking remove. Quit Outlook.

Then re-install iTunes 7.3.1. Make sure that you unclick the checkbox during the install that enables automatic iTunes updates.

That did it for me. I'm back syncing my Outlook calendar again.
I tried this, and got the two COM addins back. But now when I plug in the iphone, itunes (7.3.0) says it requires itunes 7.4.0 or later to work. Now what?

Tried to export the contact and the export button in Windows address book is not working and Outlook need to install the import and export function with the CD and I don't have the CD. How can I export the contact? Need to sync the contact to the phone and can't. Looked in the two add in and the two are in Outlook. Thanks.

Default Still no luck here...

itunes: 7.5
iphone: 1.1.1
outlook: 2003 sp3

I got my iphone 11/8 and it either came with firmware update 1.1.1, or perhaps it was installed when I connected it to itunes. It also forced me to upgrade to itunes 7.5 when I connected the iphone. I started receiving sync errors right away when I tried to configure it to sync w/ outlook. When I do so, with either contacts or calendar I get an error window that pops up and says something like:

"OutlookSyncClient has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Then it has the typical "Send Error Repot" and "Don't Send" at the bottom of the popup for sending the report to MS. I tried attaching the error popup that I get to this thread.

I've tried syncing with a brand new pst file that had no contacts or appointments, only one contact and appointment, and still got the same error. So I'm quite certain that it doesn't have anything to do with my actual calendar data, such as recurring appointments and what not, like others have identified.

I've also tried downgrading to itunes. I first went down to 7.3.1 and when I connect my iphone it said it atleast needed 7.4, so I tried that as well. Evey time I get the same results. Quite frustrating indeed as this is a really important feature for me to be able to sync my outlook data. I'm quite pleased with the iphone outside of this, but the sync problem really chaps my hyde.

In order to at least get my contacts into the iphone I was able to use this round-about method:

1. From outllook export contacts to csv
2. Open up outllook express and open Windows Address Book
3. Import from the csv file
4. Tell itunes to syn to Windows Address Book

If anyone else comes up with some new info, please let us know! I'm hoping that firmware update 1.1.2 that is supposed to come out soon will address the issue. Maybe if we all make some noise to apple by continually calling their support line about this they will treat it as a higher priority.
