But on the subsequent start, Outlook should give you the option to turn the offending add-ins off. Are you seeing that prompt or not?

Default iPhone version 1.0.1

Last night I decided to wipe my iPhone and try to resync again due to the discovery (by accident I might add) that a new iPhone s/w version was available.
I downloaded the update, wiped the phone, and was hopeful that Outlook would finally sync.
Despite the wisdom of Apple to correct several esoteric flaws in the OS on the iPhone, it appears that the Outlook sync issues are not one of those corrected.
The same sync problems, documented by thousands of us here, are STILL present.

Wonder when this will be a priority to them.

Bill, why the heck don't you get some MS guys on this problem for us?

I just installed the iPhone patch from Apple and synched but there is no change.

Problems I have:
Can't search for a contact have to scroll through to find someone
Can't select multiple items such as email to delete have to do it one by one
Can't sync events from Outlook

Basically I think the phone is cool but it is no where near ready for a power user. I have one day left to return it and buy a Blackberry so I'm at the end of the cliff. I was hoping there would be a solution but it looks like I'm a little early.

Maybe someone will come up with an answer tonight, otherwise good luck to you all and thank you to everyone who took the time to put up their work arounds.

Folks, there was a new version of iTunes that just came out today: 7.3.2. It's supposed to fix some bugs. Install it and see if it addresses any of your sync issues with outlook.

i got the new itunes 7.3.2 and it did nothing for me
tried to reset the sync history as they suggested, and I get this error:

OutlookSyncClient.exe has stopped working and windows closed the app

(vista home premium, 32 bit)
also fixed the COM addins item, and no help

i cannot find anything online that refers to this error or problem

anyone know what to do about the windows error?

Smile (My) Successful Sync Solution

First off, I want to thank all you guys for the many great tips, most all of which I think I tried, unfortunately to no avail. My issue was the same as many of yours'. Contacts were fine, but Calendar would not sync. I did not experience the crashing of Outlook, nor disabling of add-ins, but the syncing would never actually do anything. My final solution, which I got the idea from the AT&T forum, believe it or not, was to uninstall the "Outlook Live Search Maps Add-In." Disabling it was not enough, it needed to be removed altogether. All other add-ins remain installed and checked. The calendar now syncs perfectly. Events created on either side sync to the other. I highly recommend trying this, if you have that add-in installed. As I said before, I'd previously tried almost every suggestion, even the new pst file and uninstall/re-install type solutions. In the end, for me, it was just this one add-in.

Interestingly, I have not read others complaining about another issue I've had since the beginning, which is that, if an iPhone is connected to my PC (either my laptop, or desktop), and iTunes is running, upon eject, or closing of iTunes, iTunes freezes. I have to kill it with Task Manager. Anyone else experience this? Despite this issue, the sync does work just fine now.

I'll cross-post this, so all can see; sorry if you see this post multiple times, I'm just anxious to spread my success .

Oh yeah: Win XP, Outlook 2007, newest iTunes & iPhone s/w.
