Need help finding a free video converter for the iphone - iPhone 3G

I want to convert some movies (AVI files) for the iphone. Anybody know where I can find a free program to do this?

i use iSquint for my ipod video...
so iam pretty sure it'll work for an iphone too

Here is a free one. it's fairly simple to use. the page will show you how to use it. ive converted like 11 dvd's already.

Did you convert them in 640X480 or 480X320?

480X320, i followed everything too a T....i dont have an ipod or a mac, so im assuming the writer knows what he/she is talking about. i would assume the iphone will make it fit the screen.

Ok because if you read the small print on the tech specs on the apple site it says "Up to 5 hours of battery life is based on H.264 1.5-Mbps video at 640-by-480 resolution combined with 128-Kbps audio."
