Default Help with outlook sync

Just got the phone on Sunday and love it so far. I'm trying to sync my outlook office calendar (calendar only) through the exchange server. I have followed the directions, but so far no good. I'm trying again here so here is my steps.

1. Entered email address, username and password.
2. Entered server (https: entry)
3. Get an exchange account verification failed message.
4. Save.
5. Set toggles to only calendar.
6. Now what? I want to sync manually to save battery life, but how do I actually tell it to pull the info? How do I know if the sync worked or not. Please help. Thanks.

To know if it worked open up your contacts icon and they should be there.

Following your steps you should keep in mind a couple of things.

1. entering the server info, do not add the "https://" or "/exchange" on the address.
2. try the account with SSL on and off
3. to sync manually you might have to turn PUSH off and then set the account to manual under the FETCH settings.

Let us know.

That did the trick. THANK YOU!!! Now I have one more question. If I want to leave it set to manual to sync, how to I actually do the sync? Is there a button I have to press? Right now I have it set to fetch every hour, but I am worried about it draining battery life. Thanks.

One, unless you are a serious power user, I wouldn't worry about it draining your battery. Matter of fact, try it with PUSH on or FETCH and see how long your battery lasts.

If you must do the manual, I honestly don't know how to initiate it. I know if email is set to manual then opening your email is what makes it go out and check. So maybe when you open your Calendar this is what makes it "check".

Default Question re: syncing iPhone and Windows Contacts & Outlook Address Book

Hate to be so ignorant, but I am at a loss with my iPhone 3G and syncing. What is the difference between the "Contacts" in Outlook and the "Address Book"? They don't seem to match up when I sync. I know I can choose to sync with Contacts or Outlook--I've done both and not all of my entries show up there. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? And while we're on the subject . . . when I send an email, where does Outlook pull the address from--Contacts or Address Book? Thanks so much.
