Yet another WIFI prob

I've read many many post with similiar problem unfortunately none of the trick solves it.

I have the 8G iphone, able to connect at the apple store via WIFI.

At home, i have an OLD router still running on b, (Netgear), 64bit encription WEP, and i have it on open.

I typed in my password (turned off autocap), and it will be connected (check mark), with full WIFI strength. If i hit the info arrow, it will not show any IP, subnet, router, dns, whatsoever, (with the WIFI symbol on top!!!)

If i go onto a website, it will say cannot find a server. Sometimes, it will default back to edge, sometimes not. When it goes back to edge, I will have to turn on airplane mode and back on in order to get the WIFI symbol back, but still does not work.

I've tried resetting router, resetting iphone, nothing works. Is it because my router is too old?
