Hello my wife and I are staying at a place where our cell phones do not get service. I have a BB Curve through T-Mobile and she is using an iphone through AT&T. The place we are staying has wireless internet and i am able to connect to it with my phone and make/receive calls and access the internet. She is connected to the network but still has "No Service" and is unable to make or recieve phone calls but can access the internet. Is there anyway to enable calls over the wireless network?
if you really have no cellular service, then it must be a Tmobile hotspot that allows VOIP. As far as i know, the only way to do this on the iphone is to jailbreak it.
We are just staying at a house with a simple home network. We are getting our internet from Mediacom. I wont lie I do not know a lot about hot spots but I can't imagine that this would be considered one. Could there be any other explanations or anything I could try to get her phone to work too?
if your wife has 2.0 and the app store download truphone. its voip and and they give you 4$ credit that will probably last your trip. i have used it for 2 weeks as a house phone. the rates are real low and you keep your number
Thanks Icecreamman2. That is good to know. I am looking for an alternative to T-Mobile's Hotspot@Home UMA calling feature that works on iPhone. UMA allows incoming/outgoing calls on wifi.
