What are you trying to connect to? And if not using edge do you have wifi?

If you are simply trying to connect to the internet and have a wifi connection but don't want to chance that edge will kick in and If you're running firmware 2.0 or higher, you can turn on Airplane Mode in Settings, and still turn on Wi-Fi so you can use Safari or any app that can use wi-fi to get data. After you turn on airplane mood you will need to go back into settings and turn on wifi again (even if it was on prior to turning on air plane mode) You may need to refresh safari 1 or 2 times before a connection is made.

Thank you for your answer. I'll try that way.
