Default Going to kill my new Iphone & Imac

OK really need someone that knows both systems?

New to both three weeks never had a Mac and just got new iphone.

Two weeks playing with the imac 24" 4gig mem 650hd 2.9cpu.
happy with that now after a few up and downs.

The trouble starts when I get my nice new iphone home and thinking iphone Imac should have no trouble getting the two to talk to each other. WRONG.

It could just be me, may it is me not understanding what Im reading but Iv been three days and nights trying to get my ip to talk to my wireless router.

I just cannot get my head round the setting. or I have some thing wrong with iphone or router or some thing is stopping connection.

Im in the UK, on vergin 50meg with a Netgear wnr2000 router.
Would really like some one with the same router with a iphone connected to post setting I need to use.

Blow by blow would be good if you have the time as its driving me mad.

I just feel like Im going to put the lot in the bin at this point.

Or if any one can just give me some non-tec info to help would be great. It may be Im just missing something.

sorry for the round the world info but Im just getting so fed up with it some thing that I should be able to do and is not that hard.

Thanks for readind and any help given.

Remember Im at my wits end
thanks

Oh and I have search and read many pages of stuff and still cant get it to work.

your iphone should just see the connection and when you click it on your phone it should connect. have you tried to reset your network settings on your phone?

unless he's not broadcasting the router. i would say do a complete reboot (ie. reset the router and reset the settings on the phone. make sure you're broadcasting the router. if you don't know how just ask.) and it should be fine.

I have reset it many times now, I have even let itunes restore new and updated it still as I understand as you say it should see my router wifi and ask to connect to it, but it dont.
So I think its some setting on the computer but Iv tried every thing i can think of, but with so many settings I could just be setting some thing.

Thats why I asked if some one has the same router but any help will be a great help.

`i have reset every thing so many times, I have re-installed my mac, booted my modem 30 or more times in the last three days and reset my router 6 or more times. changing the password, wireless passphrase wpa login detials.

I just going out of my mind. I need to get it sorted as I really get such a bad signal that i need the wifi so as to do any thing with my phone at home.

I get no signal at all in my home and just to get a email it will take 5 to 10 mins, and then it may just drop out and ill have to log in again.

I even some times take my sim out of iphone and put it in nokia n96 just to get my med updates.

Im beginning to think Ł560 pounds on this phone was not such a good thing to buy lol.

So Im really hoping some one can help me get this working with my router.

Thanks again for you input.

Alan
