Auto-Connect to Hidden SSID

I have a hidden wireless signal (SSID) at home, with no wireless security.

Although it is easy enough to add a hidden network by entering the name in the "Other" field, the iPhone refuses to automatically connect everytime I am within range. In fact, it disconnects everytime I lock the screen.

Any tips on keeping the connection active?

I did not have this problem earlier when i used my iPhone under firmware 1.1.1 and 1.1.3. But since i upgraded to 1.1.4 I have the same problem as you describe (took a restore to 1.1.4. and used ziphone to unlock/jailbreak). Hidden wireless ssid will not auto connect. Since this worked for me before there should exist a solution to this problem.

Works for me on 1.1.4. Using WPA, in fact.

On 1.1.3 mine automatically connects to the hidden wifi at work every time. Not sure why your's isn't, sorry.
