let me run this by ya'll and see what you think.............

I called an Apple store that is closest to me. He said he is not an authorized repair center. but anyway we did have a wonderful conversation.

He said that Apple designs their products to work with other apple products first. he said that the iphone software and hardware is designed with working with the apple router in mind. that other router manufactures design their routers to be as economical as possible so they do not include all the bells and whistles that the apple router has, thus the price difference. that apple software on the iphone is looking for ALL the gizmos included in the apple router, that may not be on the cheaper routers. thus the problem.

bunch of whoha or does this make sense?

Sounds like hooey to me but what do I know. My friend and his son have used his 2 non-Apple WiFi routers without issue. I've used my new IPhone on his and my own router without issue.

I once gave an Airport as a Christmas present to a young lady so she could have access at her mom & dad's Mac-only household. When I made the purchased, I could not help thinking that a Linksys router would have worked just as well in the same setup for 1/4 the cost.

YMMV

Sounds like a big load of you know what. If that is true I would say that is subversive crap to goad people into buying another router. Some people are having problems connecting after loading 3.0, no doubt about that.

I know you have already tried a restore. Did you do it from back up or restore as new? Can't remember.
