Have you reset network settings...is that what you mean by reset? I would try a hard reset then reset network settings. I can assume you are on the latest firmware 3.1.2.
A google search shows this issue occurs frequently...and goes back to 2007.

    No WiFi

I have this problem too... found out what's causing it though

After updating to OS 3.1 this happened why?
    The baseband was corrupted...

To check if your baseband was corrupted somehow use iRecovery
Run iRecovery and type in radio readnvram
If you get Mac addresses for your WiFi then it's a software problem as your WiFi is active.

Solution: The only solution is to reinstall baseband or upgrade it or otherwise downgrade if you luckily have a iPhone 3G with 5.08 bootloader or a iPhone 2G (though iPhone 2G users can use Swifi fix)

I've tried running Swifi already on the iPhone 3G but it always get stuck at MuscleNerd thingy.... so I'm guessing it's just for the iPhone 2G

Hopefully Apple decides to do something about this and create a baseband reinstaller for us users who have this problem or (hopefully this doesn't happen but) release a new baseband.... for us to update to and fix our iPhone

    Here you go:

(First) Picture is on FW 3.0 (Second) Picture is on 3.1 (Pwned so i can still remained unlocked so its running 3.1 but using the older baseband).
    [IMG][IMG]

I have the same issue as well. I had an iphone, that was running 2.2 the vibe switch came off. So i took it into Apple for a replacement, and they gave me an iphone running 3.0. About maybe a couple weeks after the latest 3.1 firmware came out my wifi stopped working So i pwnagetool'd to 3.1 while keeping the older baseband so i can still remain unlocked.

Sometimes the option to even do anything regarding wifi is grayed out and untapable sometimes it says No wifi... and i know this isnt correct because my itouch is on my wifi network, and i have my laptop running on my wifi network.

Despite restoring, resetting settings etc, nothing has fixed this.... and its 100% the phone since my wifi network is running fine, with multiple devices connected. (Such as my Laptop, and iTouch).

    LUCKY YOU....

Did you try updating to OS 3.1.2?

It has a baseband update and that baseband is now unlockable even without WiFi.
Update to 3.1.2 it might fix your WiFi problem cause somewhat it seems the NVRAM was corrupted somehow. This is happening to a lot of people because Apple decided to make installing the new baseband a high and fast priority and somewhat during the update it corrupted it.

If you already restored to 3.1.2 and the baseband is updated then you'll have to wait for a new baseband update or reinstaller...

    Try this out

Get iRecovery (search it up) (Make sure Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2008 is installed)

Place the files on the Desktop

Run Command Prompt (cmd) not in Administrator mode if your using Vista or 7

Type cd Desktop or navigate to the iRecovery files

Put your iPhone into Recovery Mode (It puts it in to Recovery Mode temporarily) Just hold the Home Button when it's turned off and connect it to the PC and keep holding the Home Button until it goes into Recovery Mode (iTunes logo and USB)

Run iRecovery by typing in irecovery -s

It will go into your iPhone and type in radio readnvram

Check if it has a Mac Address for your WiFi hadware if it does it's a software problem

Then try this out... type in setenv wifiaddr x.x.x.x.x.
(Where x.x.x.x.x is that's where you put the Mac Address check the Mac Address of your Bluetooth and the last number is always one number higher for WiFi or just check radio readnvram again)

    Then type in printenv wifiaddr

    Then afterwards saveenv

    Then fsboot

    Then reset

    Then /exit

and close Command Prompt and check if WiFi is back and working. It restores the Mac Addresses for the iPhone to read

    Hi,
I did ALMOST everything that you've advised -but
it seems does NOT do anything:
I've put my iPhone (3.1.2 jailbreak-ed with blackra1n) with iRecovery up to:
(Recovery) iphone$ ...and that's it!!! I've taped in "radio readnvram" - Nothing
I've taped in "printenv wifiaddr" - Nothing - it's going to the (Recovery) iphone$ again
finally, I did "fsboot" and /exit
    No Wifi!!!
    What have I done wrong?
    Please help!

Oh I forgot to say that you need to downgrade to iPhone OS 3.0 cause OS 3.1 blocks access to the NVRAM

I tried it on mines but it didn't work.... :(
You can try it with yours if you want it may work

Another solution is if you have an iPhone 3G with 5.08 Bootloader you can downgrade using Fuzzyband and likewise downgrading also means reinstalling baseband (the lower version baseband)

If you have an iPhone 2G you just have to jailbreak and get BootNeuter and pick the other baseband opposed to the one you have installed so it will reinstall that other baseband

I was playing around with my iPhones a bit.... Also searched it up and found some results from 2007 but no one really got these problems until now

    Hi,
Guys, all these tricks DO NOT work! I mean - reset Network, installing Push fix etc'. I've tried EVERYTHING!
My question now - How to check if the problem with WiFi was caused by software or may it be problem with hardware?

    Ask yourself this.

Are there other devices on your Wifi network? Printers/laptops/ other devices?

    IF so its the iphone.

Same issue here... Have tryed anything and more... I'm italian and i recived an uk iphone 3g locked.. with no sim, upgraded to 3.1.2 (the jb was non available yet), i loaded a custom firmware 3.1.2 and after that I was a able to start the phone but without Sim funtion... witch is normal.. after feww days was coming out the jb og geohot... but I recived a surprise... no wifi, no bt, no modem version present in the info page!!!!
Had cydia but with no connections at all... surfed a lot on the web and found diskaid, so, connected with usb, I could start to install apps on my iphone, to try to fix it... was able to install the mobile terminal, ifile, ssh etc... have tryed many operationd with the terminal but was not able to fix it...
I think is a good thing to have a mobileterminal and ifile installed... with ifile you can install any app.deb that you can find in cydia, but with no connection, just with the usb...

i would suggest trying to restore your phone again with the new pwanagetool. i'm not sure if there would be a conflict in the countries because after all an iphone is still yet an iphone as far as i'm aware of. so yeah, try resetting the settings. if that doesn't work, try restoring it again.

Every time I try to restore a firmware with itunes, at the end of the loading I get the error 1016 (looked around.. that means the baseband is corrupted..).. so the iphone goes in recovery mode... with the new blackra1n for mac I can let the iphone start but with the same problems..
When I use blackra1n I'm not able to use diskaid to work on iphone via usb..
The only firmware I can restore is a 3.1.2 powned (custom) that I've downloaded from internet, is for locked phones... and is the one that I'm using now... and I can use diskaid via usb. I think that that was the problem because the powned firmware had a previous baseband version and the iphone had the last version...

.... :dft002:amazed don't download custom files from the internet because you don't know how they were set up. you'd have to find a copy of the ORIGINAL firmware and make your own custom file via the proper version of pwanagetool. trust me it works :eek:k:eek:k

I've eared that pwanagetool doesnt touch the baseband.. how could that fix it??
