    It's based on last years dates.

    Last year:
    Monday June 8th - Announcement
    Wednesday June 17th - 3.0 release
    Friday June 19th - 3GS release

    This year:
    Monday June 7th - Announcement
    Wednesday June 16th - 4.0 release
    Friday June 18th - iPhone release

    The 2G and the 3G were also released on a Friday.

    yea i was just talking to my cousin that works at apple and he was telling me that its pretty likely that "Jobs" will announce this iphone to be out earlier this year

    I would like to go to my local AT&T store but the girl at the the desk told me they may not be getting the 4thG iPhone but I don't want to go to apple because of my upgrade situation which I think is wack I got my 3gs 10/3/2009 and when I called AT&T to check my elgibility status they told me I couldnt upgrade with a discount until 6/4/2011??? so I may have to go back to best buy like I did when I got my 3gs

    To the thread topic:

    In my area - Apple & AT&T were packed. I pre-ordered online for delivery and it worked. However, I went into a Best Buy the day the phones went on sale - it was EMPTY - and they had TONS of iPhones!!!

    What were you guys saying earlier about people with FAN accounts? Is there a hassle going to the Apple or AT&T store if you have a FAN discount on your account?

    Don't go to Apple if you have a FAN. Too much hassle. You have to cancel the discount, buy the phone, reinstate the discount. At least that's how it has worked in the past.

    Hmm for me that might be worth doing. I hate dealing with the AT&T stores. I'm sure if I called the Apple store though they'd say that aren't sure if the FAN discount would be a problem or not.
