When it comes out for sale? Since my upgrade eligible isn't till September I'll probably buy the phone from Apple either the 16gb or the 32gb if they release the bigger giga byte versions like they previously did. I hope even if the colors are still being produced I'll buy the white version if not I'll buy the black model.

I've bought every iPhone I've ever purchased from my local AT&T store and will definitely do the same this year. Preordering last year was awesome, so if they do that again, I'm in.

I wonder if I can get a discount if I order from AT&T because my work gives a discount on online AT&T purchases. My guess is that it won't be applicable for the iPhone though :/

There is a AT&T store roughly 1 mile from me (apple about 4 miles). Was it really that easy? Long lines etc? If not and the option is available, screw camping out I'd rather drive 2 minutes and be in and out

Mine is about a half mile away. :eek:k:eek:k

Last time I preordered and showed up about an hour early. There was really no need... by the time the store opened, there were only about 10 people lined up outside, and only one other person had preordered. We went in first and everyone else had to wait (supposedly) another hour before they could go in. I don't know how strict they were with enforcing that considering how few preorders there seemed to be. Though for all I know hundreds of people could have swarmed in behind me with preorders. I kinda doubt it, though.

I live on the outskirts of Philadelphia and there are lots of places to get an iPhone on iDay, including a couple Apple stores. I guess because of that, smaller AT&T shops don't get as much attention... which is just the way I like it.

I am like Dave and buy mine via my local AT&T store which is 2 miles from me in an outdoor shopping mall. There is an apple store in one of our traditional malls about 5 miles away and I go there for service but will continue buying from AT&T unless I hear of some incentive to do otherwise.

I tried to buy my 3GS from the Apple store last year but those 'tards had everything messed up. AT&T said I was eligible for a FULL upgrade but it wasn't showing on Apples end. I even called an AT&T rep and put the Apple employee on the phone with them and they didn't know what the problem was but Apple had no power to override anything. I left there pissed with NO iPhone and drove to the closest AT&T store to buy one there. My full eligibility came up no problem in-store.

I'll skip the hassle this year and go directly to AT&T.

AT&T store for me. They gave me great service and they know their system better than people at the Apple Store. Rather not get something screwed up.

Oh Damn. These stories sound terrible. I bought both of my phones from the 5th Ave Apple Store in Manhattan. I plan to go there again. They usually have their stuff together.

There's an Apple store here locally but I had a small problem with one of the Apple iPhone Technicians when he was looking at my phone cause it was freezing and locking up (phone was a month old) one of his friends that was working right next to him he came over to him and they decided to talk about this unknown girl they know and how she likes to get drunk and among other things they talked out loudly about then both of them walked off talking about it...so I grabbed my iPhone called Apple customer service spoke with a very nice lady in the iPhone tech line area on the phone told her my problem she couldn't believe that happen to me after putting me on hold she called the Apple store where I visited a spoke with the manager and she got on the phone with me she said go back and talk to the manager and he'll hook you up with a new phone.

So I'm thinking of going back there or just buy the new iPhone online and let them ship it to me, who know's maybe I'll take my chances on going back to store to see how many people are there if its a big line I might just go ahead and buy it online at Apple's website then go on from there. I know Apple has great customer service relations and those two guys that worked there at the place I'm sure the manager had a very long talking with them both. Like they say you can't fix stupid!

I've bought the two previous iPhones at an AT&T store and had no problems. I had a really phenomenal experience getting my iPad on launch day at the Apple Store though. I truly haven't decided yet.

I've usually bought them from my local apple store and waited in line, but if they offer a pre-order again, I'll do that this year.

I will too! I don't understand why more people don't choose this option. There's no reason to stand in line, or even go out, unless you want the "experience." I had the line experience with the 3G. It was kinda fun, but that was the only way to do it back then. Now it's pointless if you can have it delivered for free on release day.

I'll preorder for pickup just to get my phone at 7:00 AM or whenever the store opens... instead of sometime in the afternoon with Fedex. :eek:k:eek:k

I will most likely go through my local AT&T store. I live in Jacksonville, and unfortunately, we only have one Apple store and it is close to 40 minutes from my home, so it is unreasonable. I pre-ordered my 3Gs and did in store pick up at AT&T and must say it was a smooth experience. I was the second person in the store to get my phone and they had it activated and running in about five minutes. I may go with the release day delivery to my house, but will most likely opt with the AT&T in store. I can't wait. As much as I love my jailbroken 3Gs, I am anxious for something new.

This whole "getting it shipped on release day" thing kinda has me stumped.

What if I want it first thing in the morning? I really don't want to sit around all day at my house looking out the window waiting on the UPS or FedEx guy to come. Unless they say "Delivered by 9AM" or something, I'm going to the AT&T store nice and early. :)

You don't have to wait around all day. They are in the "overnight" shipping category, so they arrive before noon. If I remember correctly, I recieved my around 10:45 am last year. Not quite as early as you could get it at the store, but good enough for me.

That doesn't sound too bad, but I am one of those people who wants it ASAP.
