Fair comment, although I still don't see how you could possibly think they staged this? Apple would have broken the law by staging something like this i.e wasting police time... the list goes on. I do like the rumors that appear before every iDevice release because we all see some really amazing concepts, some I wish were actually a reality.
Well a couple of my thoughts are: -If staged and police got involved, the apple people involved in it are probably tight lipped enough to not ever say anything. -apple like to make things exciting and different than the competition....so why not do dome silliness like this. Remember all the buzz last time? You tube videos, news coverage, Internet articles etc....it almost made the phone legendary. (the new CEO may want to BE LIKE steve jobs...and maybe thought there would be more limelight cast on him and the company) which I don't understand why they would copy the fiasco from last year.....maybe because it worked well. -I think it's a good thing for us to get an idea of the new product....and we never know what is the real thing. Think of it this way....yea alot of people know there should be a new iPhone coming out. That's a given. But throw in the fact that (when it does surface) we may get a glimpse of what's to come, people not normally interested might because interested because if the sheer fact that after this, they will want to know if the prototype was in fact the real deal. Then this may lead to even more people buying. Just think about it for a minute. Makes sense doesn't it? Yes I know the iPhone is the mist successful and famous phone to date and apple has no problem selling them.....but make it even more interesting and you may even sell more. This ordeal is like free advertisement....it's costing apple nothing, yet it's getting pre exposure. I think who ever found it is scared and doesn't know what to do with it just yet. Remember last time the other guy got in trouble...or almost did. I'd be scared too
Makes me wonder if apple was in on it or if this was an act of a rouge reporter trying to make a story. And if apple wasn't in on it why didn't they deny it.
Depends on who you ask. People who drink the iKool-Aid will for obvious reasons deny that Apple had anything to do with this. People like myself who can look at this objectively will say they absolutely had something to do with this. I find it incredibly coincidental how this comes out on almost the same day that Samsung announces their newest Android devices here in the US.... Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
What Kool-Aid do you need to drink to look around - the web, leading newspapers and magazines, TV etc - to see that Apple is far from lacking attention??? There's not a tech company in the world that gets more coverage and focus. So please explain why on earth it would make even the tiniest bit of sense to not be content with that and need to pull junior high stunts to get attention. This is now the second largest company in the world, making billions upon billions in profit, far outpacing their rivals in the mobile space, and you've somehow got them painted as desperate enough to do something as stupid as this.
I meant it as one who strictly loves Apple products. Just checked , though, and I did find a reference to iKool-Aid here, lol. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=iKoolaid Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
Well they certainly were desperate enough to tie up Samsung's Android devices in court long enough. Now all of a sudden when Samsung finally gets the go ahead to release them here in the US and makes their announcement of them this ridiculous story breaks. Look at it any way you want. All I'm saying is that I found it to be coincidental, that's it.... Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
This story broke well before the Samsung announcements today - just look at the history of this thread for an indication of that. And how are Samsung supposed to be a big enough threat to panic Apple into something this stupid? They've had tablets out on the market for ages, tablets that have been left in the dust by the iPad. I still haven't seen anything even approaching a logical reason for Apple to do something so dumb.
There's a difference between using every legal option available to protect your IP (not saying I agree with it) and setting up false news headlines that make you look like you couldn't care less about losing prototypes you spend so much legal money protecting. There are far better ways to grab headlines if that was their goal.
Samsung along with 3 wireless carriers made an announcement on Aug. 30th. http://www.androidcentral.com/samsu...us-arrival-and-gives-us-look-some-accessories Less than 24 hours later this story about another lost prototype comes out. Apple sure has impeccable timing that's for sure. Now, as far as Tablets are concerned, as an iPad 2 owner I agree with you. The iPad is still on top as far as the competition goes.... Even eiC is reporting that Apple staff were impersonating police officers. What was that about it being too dumb a PR stunt or Apple's respect for the law? Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
So if it was a stunt, why would they send investigators to this guy's house? Are you still arguing it was all for headlines? Or are we on to something else now?

Android brainwashing. I'm not even going to bother trying to defend Apple anymore. I can't honestly believe people think this was staged... Wow.
All I have to say is let's see if there's a police investigation. As everyone says, impersonating an officer is a big deal.
Won't try to defend them? Give me a break. How could you? Apple can't even defend themselves here. They got caught in the act and aren't even denying it. LOL. "Android brainwashing". Hmm.. sounds like the same kind of thing that Apple fanboys go through, only they call it "Apple brainwashing". Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
