They don't but when I called I asked them if the unlimited data can be reinstated if we came back. They told me yes because we came back within 59 days, so our contract and plan would continue where it left off, so we did not have to sign a new contract. That made my mind up to come back to AT&T otherwise I would not have.

Yes they should it was a real rip when they took that away, anything to make more money I guess, like they don't make enough.

Absolutely, for the everyday crowd where a simpler flow is fine; the retina display, larger app base and the beautiful build of the ip4 is a hard combination to compete with.

And therein lies Apple's achilles heel.

With respect, please allow me to restate your own observation. Apple is ONE company, making a killing by 'marketing' to the crowd. This is Job's winning formula and the crappy aspects to Apple is a reflection of this core value.

Strategically, a subdued audience is his biggest asset and so threats on that front are, as in Apple's view, criminal. We are talking about the Apple ecosystem here.

He cannot serve a consumer making demands outside of his terms and preserve his insane profitability. In fact, he has no choice but to wage a war on the jailbreak community specifically because he can't have them sitting beside a stock drone and demo for them that they've been sold a myth.

As the consumer we think, why not just deliver the options. Have you ever tried to put a JB'd phone in the hands of a noob. They're lost. For all the jazz and wow, they're left scratching their heads. That does not sell phones. So you have conflicting goals. He needs to dumb down a product that has to appear cutting edge.

Long term; in the face of competition that will cannibalize profit margin to actually deliver cutting edge; that embraces it's root community, leveraging their activities to rapidly feedback into their own product development - resistance is futile.

Really, I do wonder why don't more JB-fans flip. You spend so much effort tuning a platform that at it's core wants to lock you down. On the other side of the fence, multiple companies and multiple communities inevitably share local advancements to push the common platform. Over here, being forced to re-root is unheard of.

As examples of community driven feedback, in two months; my local community has driven performance gains in both responsiveness as well as battery life to multiple HTC units; a chinese team that had unlocked the FM radio (common in the ip4) shared their success in return for a community push to compile their base across multiple languages. Theme-ing by comparison feels so sedate.

As for the hardware support. Recently I ran across a Desire with a failed home button. The unit was bought from Best Buy which includes express exchange on their smartphones free of charge. I had a mint unit shipped to me in three days with return packaging to ship the faulty unit free of courier charges.

Actually I've already looked at the thing at HTC's online store but don't even get me started. The 4.3" screen, 8MB cam, 50% more install space, onboard 1.5GB fast storage, external uSD. Add that I love HTCs solid weight and feel, the dark squared industrial look, that the rounded edges and silky feel makes holding it very comfortable if not an outright joy. Man I need some chocolate. :laugh2:

I've only two beefs, one my wish list and the other, the absolute biggest frustration for many HTC-Droid power users. The first, a dual core SOC would make it perfect; the second, how long must GSM wait for its keyboard-less successor to the N1!!!

If I have to wait 6 months for HTCs successor, I'm gonna rip the keyboard off a Z, slip a finishing back to clean it and a magnifying glass on the front to make it 4.3 - in an effort to DIY my own solution.

I can not understate the pent up frustration of waiting for this unicorn. Some in the community have sold their N1's, especially on the rumor that the NS had a dual core SOC. Idea being to cash the resale value before its inevitable drop, only to find the thing is debatable as to being better. Understand that going from HTC to Sammy's plastic offering in of itself, is a compromise of desires.

Yeah I'm dying for an N2 from HTC that I can actually slap a SIM into.

edit: Archangel, keep in mind that HTC still rules the roost all things root. Look up XDA if you do decide to flip.

Your right. You never know till you try it. It's ok, like I said before, a co worker of mine did the same thing. He's not saying much about it I think cause I gave him a hard time about switching to android. I told him he'd be back and he proceeded to tell me how his android phone was better than his iphone4. I guess he saw the truth on his own cause he is sporting his ip4 once again.
