So I am new to iTunes on an apple and I know for when I was using a PC in iTunes there was a playlist on the side in itunes and it said ringtones and you would just drag them ring-tones in that playlist and then sync them via itunes with the iphone. Well I have tried everything to try and find that folder on the left hand side and its just not there and I am trying to get ring-tones on my phone. What should I do or am I just dumb and missing something? Some one please help me.

If the files are already in the proper iTunes ringtone format (.m4r) you can place them in ANY folder! You simply put them in a folder and then you double-click on one of the files...it will open iTunes to play the file and then it will automatically be added to your ringtones. Do this with each individual file, and then you're ready to sync. Don't move the files afterwards though, or iTunes will lose track of them and you'll have to double-click (play) each one of them again. This works on the PC at least...

If the ring-tones folder is not in the left hand column on the screen you can go into preferences and make sure the check box is clicked where is says ring tones.

I'm also having the same problems. I've been doing everything they say, by changing the extension after t pops up in the iTunes folder. Then I try to sync and it doesn't work.

You have to change the extension before it pops into Itunes. Here are the instructions from EIC homepage:
    6. Find the file on your hard drive. Mac users will need to start in the Home folder with the following path: /Users/your-user-name-here/Music/iTunes and Windows users will need to look on the C: drive using this path: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music. The newly-created song file will be in a folder there named for the song’s artist.
    7. Change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r by clicking twice slowly to highlight the file name (for Mac users) or right-clicking and choosing Rename in the contextual menu (for PC users). You may see a warning message pop up asking to confirm if you really want to make this change - choose OK or its equivalent to confirm the change.
    8. Once the file extension has been changed, just double-click on it to open it and iTunes will automatically come to the front and place it in your Ringtones folder in your Music Library, and it will be transferred to your iPhone the next time you sync it

3 seconds long. I got it to work one time a while ago, but it won't let me do it again.
