    Once in a while I use a stylus to make a quick drawing of a project or room, with dimension notes, before I got to Home Depot. Very handy.

    A device that can only use fingers is partly crippled to me.

    I don't know how anyone could not want as many input options as possible. Touch, stylus, voice, motion.

    I highly doubt it will have any phone functions. But built-in 3G for data would be smart to give the the same ubiquitous internet experience you get on an iPhone. All carriers have data-only packages for computer and netbook modems.

    More like the $60/mo range. At least for AT&T. That's why tethering on an iPhone is a tricky issue for them. They're subsidizing netbooks and selling them right alongside phones now.

    I'm assuming a ~$25/month + 'whatever up front'. They'll be playing catch up with the App Store sales, don't forget the rumour about them having an SDK out which will port iPhone apps to a larger screen.

    Coincidence or not...the iPhone already has iSlate in its dictionary? lol.

    I was just typing an email to iPhonewarrior and typed islare by mistake, and my keyboard changed it to iSlate!! lol

    Apple won't call it "iSlate" anyway. The older magazine editor who called it a "slate" was simply using the over ten year old term for a tablet computer with no keyboard. Can't believe anyone thought that was its name.

    It's just as silly as if someone said a new car was going to be a convertible, and all the people who'd never heard the term started saying it was going to named be the "iConvertible".

    Personally, I'm betting on something with "iPod" as the first word. And/or perhaps they'll license "PADD", which would cause a lot of the crowd to swoon. Maybe "iPad".

    That's a little harsh, cussing the the Ninja. There has been more than one source calling it the 'iSlate'. It doesn't really matter what's it's called, the name doesn't have anything to do with it's functionailty or specification.

    Not sure where you got that idea. It was meant as a friendly correction, albeit rushed this morning while feeding the kids.

    Sure, I understand that people are using "iSlate" as a shorthand for whatever the thing really is.

    But thinking that it's already in the dictionary as an Apple product is even more confusing, even if it was exciting for a second :dft010:smiling
