Outlook Contact Sync

I saw on this forum or the Apple forum that the contacts will only synch from iTune to iPhone.

Today, I was able to synch in both directions. Contacts added Outlook or the iPhone will synch with each other.

I'm using Vista and Outlook 2007 and mine syncs both ways.
The person is probably having Outlook sync issues like everyone else is having. At first, I couldn't sync all my contacts over, until I found this workaround I made up.
Give it more time, and they will fix more bugs.

I just enter a contact or edit a existing contact.

Hit Sync, and it's in Outlook after the Sync. If I edit in Outlook or add one, and sync, it will be added or edited on iPhone.

Just add/edit then sync. Can't be easier...

Mine synched all of my contacts without allowing me the option to choose groups. So now I have over 300 contacts in my iPhone. :angry: Any idea how to fix that?

I don't use Groups, but when I tried adding a group in Outlook.
It didn't show up in my iPhone no matter what I tried.

Once you sync the iPhone with iTunes it goes through all the different sections: music, contacts, and calendar. If you've added some contacts or appointments, it will usually give you a warning message during the sync process that "syncing will change more than 5% of your contacts." Once you do that any changes you had added to your iPhone calendar or contacts, will now be on your Outlook contacts and calendar.

What I am asking is how do you take contacts from IPHONE and put them into OUTLOOK. I saw an import option but it didn't have FROM DEVICE as a choice. Am I missing something?

I would also like to know how to do this, as well.

What I'm telling you is it does it automatically.

Im using outlook 07 And under File I have IMPORT/EXPORT and then it bring up a list on HOW you would like to import it or export it. Not automatic.

You don't do anything. IF you've got contacts or appointments on your phone that you don't have in your outlook software yet, when you plug up the phone it will automatically load those contacts and appointments to your computer.

Ok I don't understand what your not getting. It is NOT syncing automatically, so I try to do it manually and it still dosn't work.

There's not a manual option for moving the contacts from the phone to the computer. The only manual option you have is to move contacts from some other file into your outlook program. Once you select the Outlook options on the itunes contacts page, it should sync both ways: from computer to phone and from phone to computer. It wouldn't be worth much if it didn't. The whole point is to be able to add appointments and contacts when you're away from your computer and then sync them with your desktop when you're back in the office.

You must have your Outlook incorrectly configured then.

Fresh install, no options changed.

Did it sync correctly when you loaded the contacts to your phone from Oulook?

Yea,

I just hit add new contact on my iPhone or edit a existing contact.

Then go home, plug into my PC and hit sync, and wala, it goes from my iPhone to my PC Outlook Contacts.

It's auto, no option to import etc...

LOL, that option is to import your Outlook information to another program or file to back it up.
It has nothign to do with the iPhone!

You shouldn't have any options in Outlook for the iPhone!!!

It just adds a com plugin I'm pretty sure.


I would, uninstall iTunes.
Uninstall Outlook.

Reinstall Outlook. Make sure it's closed, and then reinstall iTunes.

I doubt trying it in the morning will fix it, unless it's a timer related issue. Most computer issues won't fix themselves.... lol
