    AllThingsD reports that Apple CEO Tim Cook will unveil a fifth-generation iPhone at a media event scheduled for Tuesday, October 4:

    Tuesday, October 4. That’s the day Apple is currently expected to hold its next big media event, according to sources close to the situation, where the tech giant will unveil the next iteration of its popular iPhone.

    Author John Paczkowski mentions Apple could change plans at any time. The time frame jibes with the publication’s previous report calling for a mid-October launch of the next iPhone. Kara Swisher, another author with AllThingsD, wrote on Twitter last month that there will be no iPhone event “until Oc … to … ber”. 9to5Mac also learned mid-August that Apple’s original plan included a September presser, to be followed by the September 30 pre-orders in the run-up to the iPhone 5′s arrival onto store shelves in early October. Boy Genius Report has incorrectly pegged the release of the eighth and final beta of iOS 5 at this past Friday, which never came to be. The site predicted iOS 5 Gold Master for this coming Friday.

    You know guys, there are so many rumors that I don't know what to believe. I figure when the actual booking of an event arena is leaked then we will know for sure. I just thought this was interesting information, that had a ring of truth to it. :unsure:

    We would all like the iPhone 5 to be released sooner than later, but if we're talking the first week in October for the event with an eventual actual release of the iPhone maybe a week or two after, we can tough it out, I think. Plus probably after the event pre-orders will be available the end of the week, maybe. :rolleyes: LOL!!

    I hope for a February 7th release. Not an october 4th reveal then say a October 28th launch.

    My birthday is the 5th and I'm due for an upgrade on the 7th. Great birthday gift! Plus I'm completely torn on to get the iPhone 5 or 6.

    I promise that was the original date :) but it seems that just like the galaxy S2 apple is having some parts shortages so they delayed the iphone5 launch to build more inventory

    listen you want to be that way thats your deal, I'm telling you what i know when I know it. Its bs like your statements that make people on here not wanna share anything. Things change and if you actually did some research instead of cheerleading you would see shortages ARE the reason for the iPhone5 delay
