This has been tested and verified to work

    • Email works
    • Custom and Default Ringtones work
    • iTunes identifies iPhone as 1.1.3
    • Calls work (I am not an Unlocker but it should be no different)
    • Find Me works if you run Locate Me at least once per restart
    • No fuss or messy patchwork

It is highly recommended that you install BossTool 0.34a to create an Apps symlink and move your applications directory to your media partition. You'll run out of App space otherwise.

    Why Use this Version instead?

Downloaded it, am about to to read the instructions and give this a go.

is it just me or does Nate true's method seem much easier?

I upgraded, by the way, and i have just fallen in love with my iPhone again.

This seems much easier, and will work cross platform since it just uses SSH to deliver the inits.

Much much easier. About to take the plunge, deleting apps as we speak.

Do we put all the files directly in the root directory?

Yeah, dump all into the root "/" directory just like the instructions say.

I'm watching a spinning wheel right now. I think I'm supposed to let it sit there, its been going for about 5 minutes.

Great Success!!! Im on 1.1.3 with Installer on my springboard! :D

RtWilliams2: if you dragged and dropped the files over in another program, you dont need to do the first command, thats just to copy. Issue the second command, install .sh.

Yeah, I issued the install command and it ran to 100% but then nothing. My phone is just sitting on the homescreen.

Nevermind, as I was typing this, I looked at the terminal screen and it is doing something else.

    Alright, an update:

I've installed some apps just fine, SSH installed perfectly as well.

Google Maps find me doesn't work as expected, however you CAN get it to work by installing Locate Me, running it once, and then press the Find Me button in Google Maps. It located me to my direct address. Kind of scary, that means my IP has been tagged by skyhook I reckon.

Anyway, I'm going to have a go with more app installs and see what happens when I sync with iTunes now.

Also, if you get a spinning wheel for a while, don't be alarmed. I let my run for 45 minutes before just resetting the device by holding down the home button and power button. When I powered back on I was greeted with the prompt that I can now move my homescreen icons :)

    Edit --

    Outgoing calls work
    Email works
    Custom and Default Ringtones work

Well, right now its still doing stuff in the terminal window. Making directories and such. Still haven't seen anything happen on my phone.

In winscp, I have the "Host has not answered" box up but its still going.

Yeah, just let that sit there.

It will continue to do its thing. Eventually you will get disconnected. Its at that point you should see something happen on your iphone.

Hey - x666x - I'm just curious about one thing. When I run SysInfo after Nate's method, it shows me its own process and that of Mobile Safari running under user root. I thought the new security model in 1.1.3 was supposed to relegate most non-system apps / processes to running as the less-privileged 'mobile' user.

Just out of curiosity, would you mind seeing what SysInfo shows for those two processes after this jailbreak method?

On your 1.1.2 jailbroken phone, copy the contents of the jailbreak folder to the root directory. Once all the files are in the root directory, you run the install command in terminal.

Do I need to install VT Terminal for that?

I have ever appeared to know what I'm talking about,

    1) I'm sorry
    2) I'm not an iPhone Genius, but I play one on TV

If I do need to install Terminal, can you also post what command I need to issue? That will get me close to the info you want.

Nope, just install the app called SysInfo, which should be under the Productivity category. It's all GUI stuff with it. You just launch it and it gives you some general system info, and has a 'Processes' button - hit that and it takes you to a listing of all currently running processes. Tap on the individual process for SysInfo, or Mobile Safari (or any of them) and it takes you to a screen with more detail on that process, including what user account it is running under ...
