    Did you receive an answer?

It sounds like you're having the same issue we are. My daughter's Ipod was working just fine. We have a router through our telephone company which included phone line and internet. They gave us free wireless access. I've been on the telephone with them and they keep saying nothing is wrong and that our wireless is working. They tell us to go to Apple when, in fact, her Ipod works in other areas and even wants to pick up our neighbors connection. Our connection isn't even listed when trying to connect and it does not recognize the connection when manually entered. It's becoming very discouraging and I have no desire to spend $30 for a technician to "figure out" the issue.

If you or anyone has answer, I would really appreciate the help. Thanks so much. Lisa

Try checking for MAC filtering in the modem home network wireless settings. My Ipod was randomly put in the blocked list.

go to all of your boxes associated with your wireless, and or internet. turn them off wait at least 10 seconds and turn back on... then wait untill the internet and wireless* lights are on or flashing... go to the ipod and try connecting again, you should then be ready to type your network's passkey/word. My ipod 4 connected for 6 months then one day quit... this was my simple fix. hope it helps

Well, I forgot to post but we found out that our router was bad. Went back and forth with the company and finally got connected with an awesome supervisor who was more-than-willing to send out a new one. That was not a fun experience to say the least.

I have possible bad news for you. If the Wifi is grey, it means it's either disabled (not likely) or dead. If your iPod is still under warranty, take it in asap to apple (restore if jailbroken) and have them look at it. they will replace anything with that kind of problem under warranty.
If it's not under warranty, you can still take it to apple, but the fix might cost more than it's worth. The other option is to do a restore. This means connecting to your PC, Syncing it, and then choosing the restore option. It will reinstall the iOS software fresh.
Now, read this very carefully, as it's important! Once the restore is finished it will prompt you to restore your profile as well. This means it will put everything back the way it was (except maybe the springboard icons) before you restored. DON'T SELECT ANYTHING until you have tested (with the cable still attached to the pc) to see if Wifi is working again. If after a restore (and before you restore your profile) your wifi is still not working, my guess is that the communication card is dead. This also means that Bluetooth is probably not working either. Restore your profile after testing and if necessary, take it to Apple to see how much repair would cost.

Greetings, I've had a 3G touch 64 for 18 months or so. Connects to wifi beautifully, no problems there. I have two bluetooth keyboards, one bought 1 year ago, one bought today, and neither is recognized by iPod, though both claim to be compatible with iPod Touch. They both connect just fine to iPad and iPhone. iPod just keeps searching, never sees any BT devices. iPad sees them instantly. Bluetooth is turned on on iPod. Can't see anything else to try, at least till the iPod recognizes a device.

    Suggestions? Any help greatly appreciated.

Compatibility is dependent on which iOS you are running. I believe (and don't quote me on this) you need to be on 4.1 or higher for keyboard support. I am not even sure if the Touch version of any iOS supports a BT keyboard. I'll check for you though.

    *EDIT*
Confirmed that the Gen 3 with iOS4 or higher will work with a BT keyboard. This might sound too simplistic, but if you are on IOS4.X and you cannot see either keyboard, make sure that you have correctly activated the keyboard's pairing mode. It's not like headsets, because it will prompt on the screen for you to type a code on the keyboard that is not 0000.

Okay, hate to be a dweeb, but I'm into cars, bikes, backpacking, etc, and not computers. Is loading OS4 as simple as plugging the iPod into iTunes and telling it to update to current version, or is it something more involved. The About screen currently says I have Version 3.1.3.
    Thanks, NGB

should be as simple as connecting to the PC, launching iTunes, and if it doesn't tell you automatically that there is an update, you can click the check for updates button. After that, it will do it's thing, but keep an eye on it, as there might be a prompt or 2 that you might have to answer.

Btw, I know it might seem like a pain in the ass, but I would suggest making it a habit to sync your touch at least once a week. if the device ever actually dies and you get another, the last sync you make is what will be put on the new device. Just a thought for you.

Okay, thanks. I'll give it a try when I get to the office (where my iTunes is loaded) this morning.

One more piece of helpful information. In case you were unaware, ANY information on a work PC is subject to scrutiny and action by the owners of that work PC. In other words, any information you sync (email, pictures, app info, music, etc.) technically can be confiscated and used [against you] in whatever means that the company sees fit.
The simple version: get your stuff off your work PC and bring it home to your personal PC

I had a similar problem to what you had. I fixed it by going to my router setup via wireless and setting it to "broadcast SSID" and then "apply changes"

(if you do not know how to access your router, just search on google your routers name.(you should end up with something like "XXX.XXX.X.X" to type directly into your web browser))

What firmware is your iPod on? You may want to update- if you aren't jailbroken.
Other things to try when having connectivity problems.
1)Hard reset. Hold the sleep and home buttons till the silver Apple boot logo appears and release.
    2) reset network settings. Settings, General, Reset
    3) reset all settings is another option (this is NOT the erase and reset option.)

    Glad to be of help!
I accept paypal, mastercard and visa. ;)

If it happens again- especially if it happens in the next couple days, you might want to consider installing the latest version of software. Of course, if that doesn't work, it also could be your router. I had this problem and fixed it by updating my router firmware- but my router itself was acting flakey, not my iPhone.

Btw, from your avatar, it looks like you graduated. High School, college, or something else? Congrats either way!
