Greetings, New here. Just wanted to chime in about how much I like my iPad. Don't carry it with me as much as some folks here but sure comes in handy in the recliner ( compared to the laptop, which I just gave away). 3G is my EDC for everything else. Aside from TV am using the iPad to keep track of the TdF stats and photos. Like the Bluetooth keyboard. Wish I could print from here.
Welcome! If I may ask, how will you sync and update your iPad now that you've given away your laptop? The iPad is a brilliant tool and can replace about 80-90% of a laptop's tasks IMO, but it still does need to be synced with iTunes.
Ah, not to worry...I still have my PC. Dirty word for some folks, I understand, but it is what it is. Will say though, the MacWorld is gaining my interest.
As for the laptop, it's the same situation as with the iPhone. For years I carried a phone, PDA and MP3 player. Along came the iPhone...problem solved! Now, as you've noted, the iPad replaces 'everything' I used the laptop for (as usage evolved).
Haha, yes I consider that a foul word in my book, lol but no worries...it's cool. Though I'm glad you have a way to sync your iPad. I just bought my iPad 3G a couple weeks ago! I cannot put it down and I am craving more iPad apps! Did you get a 16, 32 or 64 GB iPad? Just curious. I have a laptop running Windows Vista and I cannot stand it, so I bought the iPad to replace it. Later on, I plan to go MacBook Pro which shall complete my Apple set up. My iPad and iPhone 3GS will be happy! So glad to hear you are gaining interest in the wonderful world of Apple. I think you will find that once you start learning more, and tinkering more with Apple technology that it is 10x easier to use, navigate and troubleshoot Apple products compared to Microsoft products...and that each apple product is built smarter, sturdier, safer, more secure and designed with the costumer in mind for the ease of use. In fact, I may be getting a job at the Apple Store soon!
I have done the *exact* same thing you have done over the years...my very first Apple product was the first iPod video to come out...back in 2005...only 30GB. I've watched Apple become amazing over the past 5 years and have followed them ever since. It's amazing to think the iPod is now 160GB!!!
OH! I almost forgot! You can print from the iPad provided you have a wireless printer. I use a wonderful little app called Print 'N Share. It'll print from your wireless printer right within in the app using 3G or Wi-Fi on both iPhone and iPad!
A job in the Apple store would be fun. I'm running a quad4 W7 on the desk but I'm pretty sure most of my time is spent with iApps. At work it's a Windows/Unix crossover and I've dabbled in linux, so making the jump to Mac would seem the logical progression. Frankly, the program I actually need on a daily basis is iTunes, so having a pumped up desktop is almost pointless. Almost!
My morning routine is coffee and my iPad,I totally ignore the morning paper now. If only it didn't ask for my wifi password over and over. I now just turn it off and on but can't wait for a fix.
Back two...in for a penny...I have the 64 with wifi/3G. Price blew my mind for a bit but decided to go for it. Not surprised that there's a print app. Will have to look into a wifi printer. Do you have a preference?
I've had people try to tell me Macs are limited in what they can do compared to PC's which is pretty much 100% BS. If you get yourself a MacBook Pro, you have the fastest web browser, the safest web browser and protection, a high quality professional like media editing system, the latest and greatest technology built right in, including the new intel core processors i5 and i7 making the computer blazing fast, and 100's of other things...the list goes on!
Hi Connie...coffee, cat and a podcast on the iPhone. Use the iPhone almost all day...audiobooks, podcast and music. Had to get a battery backup case to keep up. I hope they come up with one for the iPad.
Oooh, very nice! Well right now I use an HP Photosmart Express. It detects up to 802.11g wi-fi, so it's not up to date with the fastest 802.11n yet. But I have seen many wi-fi capable printers at the Apple store. This one has done pretty well for me, but you might do some research.
Yep, tried it all, even some walk throughs over the phone with Apple CS. They also replaced my iPad just in case. Nothing works with my Verizon Fios, sadly I'm getting use to it now.
