I posted at the top of page 4 in June, now it's January and I don't know why it went to red/empty but it did. I plugged it into AC after it wouldn't charge on my mac. Then I re-read these pages and tried turning it on and holding the black round button. It gave me a new screen... its a picture of a USB plug with an arrow pointing to the iTunes icon. Weird eh? I will keep messing about with it.

Hum, I unplugged it from AC and plugged it into my computer, iTunes started itself and a message comes up saying it must check with the "iPhone software update server to identify this device". Weird. This is not a jailbroken iPhone, but I don't want to update to the latest software.
I let it check and it says that it has found an iphone in Recovery Mode and it must be restored before it can be used with iTunes.
Dang, when I try to restore, it only wants to check for new software updates.
Ha, ha... I shut it off instead. Turned back on. Stuck on Apple logo. Unplugged from Mac. Still apple logo. Plugged back into Mac. Still Apple logo. Was just about to shut down iTunes and pop- my battery icon shows up half charged.

    Muahahahaha.

Hi every one. Another different problem i believe ...
I have a 3GS and it's in original firmware in recent 5.1 now. Before three months about i had to go somewhere for all day. At the end of the day my phone full discharged and when i went at home after two hours and i placed to the charger won't be open again. No icon of battery, nothing !! I took another 3GS and open it and placed the mainboard to my case and it started recharge again and when it was full i paced again my mainboard. The phone after 5 hours got discharged again and won't be charged again, same phenomenon like before. I made again the above charging again to full state and let it in flight mode. After four hours i had the 50% of the power !! I charged full and i turned off the phone. After 5 hours had the 50% of the power. If i'm charging repeatedly it's working (i have it for a month now like this) but it is frustrating !! What it happened? What shall i do? Is the mainboard problem (i can't see the icon like other above problems)? My basic problem is that can't recharge after goes off. Please help. Thank you in advance.

Does the rebooting of the computer only work for the iPhone 3 and 3GS?

Bless you, sm86 and everyone you know!!! The rebooting my Mac with the phone plugged in worked. I depend on my iPhone 3G for ALL my business and home communications and I was in a serious panic after my car, computer, wall charger and two different cables failed to work.

One note... it did take a minute or two after rebooting my Mac before my phone bleeped back to life and the computer recognized it. Longest couple of minutes of my life.

Ok fantastic this it is working.
BUT, only on the pc of my wife!!! I don't understand why!!!
Someone can try to explain us what is it happening here. If it is a bug of the iphone because this it is not normal for a phone cost new 800 box.
Nobody can give a real solution of this problem.

I just had to register too and sign on to thank you all guys.

I had a same problem on my Iphone 3g, and it feels me going crazy about this issue
I just googled and follow this threads, read/follow all your instructions

I totally shut down my pc (Windows XP) with USB cable (without unplugging my phone)
and wait for a while, then suddenly Apple logo appeared.
Turn on my PC, then I put my phone to wall charger.

nothing to buy new charger or any device.

    I already bookmarked iEverythingCafe ! ! ! Cheers!!!
