    Are you really that ignorant?

"The fact is iTunes makes the whole syncing process as simple as possible and if you manage to screw this up"

And I mean YOU, the guy asking this question. First of all, it makes no sense: If it's so foolproof, no one would be here reporting this problem. Second, you act as though software is bug-free. It obviously isn't, and if you think otherwise, you're as naive as they come.

Have you even used iTunes for syncing? If you had really looked at it, you would never suggest that it makes it foolproof unless you are, in fact, a fool. iTunes (and Apple in general) shows appalling ignorance of what constitutes syncing and how it should work. This goes for everything from music to data. For example:

So wake up, before you embarrass yourself further with ignorance while trying to make others look ignorant.

I had this done to me when my iPhone did an automatic sync when I was down loading photos onto my laptop I can tell you how to get them back, your iPhone is smarter than you think because when it deleted your contacts from your phone it sent them back to your sim card.

Here is how you do it :-
    1. Set your phone to restore factory settings you should now see a picture on your phone asking you to plug into iTunes. (You will loose your messages so write anything down you need to keep)
    2. Plug your phone into iTunes.
    3. When your phone appears in the left hand column right click on your phones name.
    4. Select Restore Backup from the menu box that will pop up.
    5. Select Reset Factory Settings dont worry like i did you wont loose anything except your Apps which you will have to re install, your messages will vanish to so make a note of anything you wish to keep before you carry on.
    6. Ensure you click on Restore before clicking on Reset Factory Settings.
    7. Once your phone has reset the factory settings, select SETTINGS > MAIL, CONTACTS, CALENDARS.
    8. Then select IMPORT CONTACTS FROM SIM.
    9. Once you have done this switch off your phone then restart and YOUR CONTACTS WILL ALL BE THERE.
    10. Unfortunately you will now have to reinstall all your Apps.

I got a new iphone 3GS and was moving all the contacts from the old iphone onto it.
so synced all the old iphone contacts with itunes and outlook and then syned the new iphone 3GS with it.

Thought this was supposed to work out ok. But now almost 20% of my 1200 contacts have gone missing n I cant see them on the old phone, new phone or even on the outlook backup.

    What went wrong then?

Can someone help me with this??? Just cant afford to lose those many contacts right now.

    Lemme know.

Where do you access the above, or in the iTunes or Address Book? I don't see it.
