Slightly smaller then the Kindle Fire might just be the sweet spot. My wife has the Fire. Loves it for reading, but doesn't do much else on it. It collected dust for a while, but she's all about it again. I think I'm slowing turning her towards tablets. She used to never use an iPad (I know, blasphemy), but now she's always asking for hers or stealing mine.

I think your right....or at least a little thinner/lighter than the fire. Also I hate the slight lag, slight touch inaccuracy and the not do smooth scrolling on the fire. If it was apple smooth, I'd use it more.

I find the iPad a little too big and heavy at night when lying in bed using it I would love a iPad mini

When I use my iPad in bed, I lay on my side and set the iPad on its side in landscape mode so I don't have to hold it up.

See I thought the iPad 3's slight heft when compared to the iPad 2 was noticeable. If they create a smaller, thinner iPad - usability (holding in bed or wherever) would be drastically improved. Not to say either the 2 or 3 is unusable. It might be akin to going from a 13" MacBook to an 11" MacBook Air. When you actually experience the difference, it feels like a major change.

Just FYI...leaning it against the back of your wife's head is NOT a good way to watch some Netflix late at night. Just saying.

In a heartbeat. I primarily use my ipad for ebook reading, and the 7"(ish) size is alot more portable.

The case renderings for the small iPad Mini look cute, but I still won't be swayed. Just keep making the regular sized iPad and I'm happy.

Don't discontinue it or make it feel and look like that old sh*t.

    I love my iPad.

I'll get the next mini iPad because I have nothing better to do other than by stuff I really don't need. For example I recently bought the Nexus 7, it's great, I don't know why I bought when I already have the iPad 3?!

    My man John!
    Always protecting the eiC!

Us normal eiC citizens have no idea what goes on behind the scenes!

Thanx John! Keep up the good work!

I have my own third gen iPad, and my old 2nd gen iPad has been re-purposed (with the addition of a heavy-duty Griffin Survivor case) as a family iPad that my wife, 2.5 yr old and 5 yr old use.

We have two iPod touches that the girls use one was my wife's before she got the iPhone 4s and one was a Christmas gift for my daughter. If we didn't have the iPod Touches I'd probably pick up an iPad mini for them to use since the iPad is pretty big and heavy for them (both on small size for their ages), especially with that case.

I'm really curious to see what Apple does with the Touch going forward, I'm guessing it'll either get a substantial price drop (too close in price to what iPad mini will prob be) or the iPad mini will be its replacement.

Nope, and I still have the original iPad and am more than happy with it.
