It's like running into the middle of a very busy intersection and asking for pity when you get hit by a car. Don't handle your mobile devices near a large opening of a vessel of liquid. Duh.

dont use a hairdryer..use a vacuum to pull water out. Hairdryer can leave water inside and when you turn it on..it fries.

I've dropped two iPhones into water. First one was a 1st gen. Dropped it while texting and peeing. I was drunk but we won't get into that. Anyway, dropped it in, continued peeing, then flushed. Grabbed it and rinsed it off. Remembered a friend said rubbing alcohol. Submerged it in a bowl of that for a few mins. I then used a blow dryer until it was extremly hot. Let it cool and BAM, worked perfectly.

The 2nd one is the very 3g I am typing this on. I was re-doing our hardwood floors. Had a mop bucket out, made a call, went to put the phone back into my pocket, but it didn't make it and plopped into the bucket. Took it out, shook the water out, then place it in front of a space heater for an hour. Still works great! I think these babies are pretty resilient to water...at least that's the case in my expeiences.

Google the issue and most sources tell you to avoid the hair dryer..it gives a false sense of getting the water out. The vacuum when used over hours pulls out the water.

Key remove the battery immediately and do not turn on the phone. Use a vacuum...I did this with my son's phone, it was in the washer.

After your done leave the phone for a day or 2 as well. Then try it again

I really had hoped this thread would die a natural death before the iPhone 4 release. I'm not sure my heart can take seeing this pop up to the top of New Posts after tomorrow... ;)

Don't worry - it'll be swallowed up by the 2,000 "I Just Got My iPhone 4!" threads.
