OMFG all but the last two posts and canukatl's are bad advice, it's not impossible to click and drag songs on and off of your iDevice: turn off sync, say that you want to manage things yourself, then you can drag stuff on and off of your device, like the two posts above say. This allows you to do whatever you want, no checking and unchecking or maintaining a playlist just for your device. I normally don't post on old forums like this, but I hope people scroll to the bottom of this page because this comes up really high in the Google page ranks, so... bad advice right off the bat is an awful thing to have.

Put your finger on the song you don't want and slide it to the left. A delete button will show up and hit it.

You probably already saw the answer to your question, but just case. Just swipe your finger across whatever song you don't want and red tag marked 'delete' will show up and delete it that way. That's all there is to it.

Can ANYONE help me with getting rid of my Itunes App or something? Reason being, I have Spotify and it already has my music I downloaded and More, but it won't let me get ALL of my "starred" music on because of the space needed and I have (pretty much) doubles of songs on my phone I dont need right now. Email would be best IDK how well this site is ThedevilInAtlanta@yahoo.com Please and Thank You

There are no ways to delete the stock Music.app on iOS 5 without jailbreaking the phone. Even then, I believe it's just hidden. Why don't you just delete all of the songs in Music.app and stick the app in a folder the hide it?

Idk what that really means but it doesn't sound like it going to free up any space to sync more songs

Let me get this straight, you want to delete ALL songs that are synced on your device? You could try and unsync them via your computer, if that is not possible then you could go to

    Settings > General > Usage >

Under Storage, wait for Music to appear then tap it. You will then see how much space your music are using up, tap the Edit button on the top right and this should allow you to delete all music.

It will clear up space that is occupied by songs synced to the stock music player. Thanks, I am aware of Spotify...

What you need to do is go to your Music folder on the iPhone, then swipe to the left on the song you want to delete, and it should come up with delete on the right. If this doesn't work then the only way is iTunes.

Go to the "music app" find the ones you don't want, then slide your finger to the "right" and press "delete" :p

I thought we were going to be able to avoid going to iTunes on a computer for these kinds of functions. In fact
before IOS 6 I was deleting songs at will with a swipe, which brought up a delete button. All songs not greyed
out were on the phone/ipad. All songs greyed out were in ICloud and could be streamed or loaded onto the phone
with a button press or two. Songs could be deleted from anywhere, Artist, Songs or Playlists. Now that seems to
be gone with IOS 6. What happened to "Post PC World"?

It's great to get instant help with iPhone, iPad and IOS on these forums. Thanks to all who provide it. Another good source is the manuals provided by Apple and others. I used the Iphone 5/IOS 6 manual downloaded from
Apple.com to solve the problem which I refer to above and others in this thread correctly stated as the solution.
"In Music - swipe to the right, bringing up a Delete button - press button and songs is deleted from the device.
It is still in iTunes or in iCloud if you have an account and you can bring it back to the device. However, in the
post above I stated it doesn't work anymore(IOS 6) and it didn't until I discovered in the manual it says iTunes
Match has to be turned off in order to delete individual songs, and that is the case.
I don't know what the state of iTunes Match was before I downloaded IOS 6 but after downloading it was definitely on. I'd appreciate it if someone running IOS 5 could check to see if it matters there. That is, can you
delete songs only when iTunes Match is turned off.

It still works just don't go all the way over to the right where the quick scroll letters are.
