Well I finally purchased a new 27" iMac tonight:p I only got the i5 but it has 16GB of ram. Pretty excited to get it, probably be here thursday or friday next week.
    Now the waiting game.
First Apple computer ever (except for iPhone)

Nice, I woulda got the i7 though, adds loads of extra speed, and runs the ram faster too!
Mine is an 27" Core i7 8Gb ram 1Tb HDD

Hate to say it tom but an i5 processor with 16GB kinda pointless just because I don't think your even going to be coming close to using all 16GB of ram and I would hate to see what that upgrade cost you if it went through apple.

It was a package deal at a great price, the ram comes in handy for some compilers I use when writing software. One package I write use to take 21 min to compile, now it takes 3!

    What?

Please ignore any advice that tells you that x amount of RAM is too much. You can never have too much memory.

Yeah I agree you can never have enough ram just would have been nice to get the i7 with 16gb ram then you would have really been cooking. You could have got the i5 with 8gb of ram and you still would have been fine. Like Dave said though you can never have enough ram.

I'm jealous, but I'll be upgrading my iMac situation in a few weeks, after the refresh.
