This plugin was made by Hachu and modified by JohnSingh12. The plugin was then packaged and tweaked for 1.1.4 by x999x.

    What's SafariDL?

    What's AVPlayer?
AVPlayer is a native media player that can be launched from MobileFinder. Simply browse to your /var/mobile/Downloads folder, double click a media file in MobileFinder and then give it an association with AVPlayer.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn't SafariDL work? I enable it but nothing happens.
-Did you restart your iphone as instructed after installing? Not a respring, a restart.
-When you turn the plugin On and Off, are you waiting for the spinning progress bars to complete before exiting BossPrefs?
-Toggle the switch On and Off once or twice, waiting a moment before each toggle. Sometimes the first attempt takes a couple toggles.
-Make sure to leave the media page before turning on the plugin. This eliminates issues where the plist files could not be changed because they were in use.

    Where are the Downloads going?
-Downloads are saved by default in: /var/root/Downloads. I put a symlink to /var/mobile/Downloads so that its easier to access later on from Mobile Finder. When Uninstalled, I delete the Symlinked folder but leave /var/root/Downloads in tact.

I Uninstalled, but now Quicktime won't stream my music.
-This happens when the SafariDL plugin didn't close properly, and as such was left on when it was unisntalled. The plist file which tells Safari what to do with a media file it recognizes is still looking for the SarariDL plugin.
-To fix this reinstall the SafariDL plugin and toggle the On and Off switch in BossPrefs a couple times. Check a media file in Safari to verify that your media will stream again as normal. Once you are streaming media content and things are back to normal, you can now uninstall SafariDL.

Thanks a bunch. I've come across several things I want to download while away from the Mac. This'll be very useful.

Well I was going to pick something less subjective for this very reason, but I thought a familiar apple jingle would be more appropriate.

    What's wrong with Vanilla anyway?

It's amazing how popular that song is due to that once commercial.

That's Apple's business model. You get paid relatively little money, however you're guaranteed a tremendous wave of exposure thats unparalleled in the industry.

Most of the bands that have music on the commercials are indie, or relatively unknown, yet they all debut in the top 10 when their album is released based on the commercials alone.

The same thing happened, atleast in my town, for the song that went with the commercial for the new ipod nano's. The 1-2-3-4 song...

It's amazing how x999x keeps coming up with the coolest things that keep me glued to my iPhone. YOU ARE THE MAN!

P.S. you should consider a thread on an intro to yourself so we get to see the genius behind all this great work. Seriously, do it if you have time.

    What happened to MNP

Back when the first Safari download plugin came out I used to use Move N Play to import downloaded audio files into the iPod application. It could also save On-the-go playlists within the iPod app. I just checked to see if it was compatible with 1.1.4, but the source didn't work for me.

Does anyone know where the MNP source went? Or, is there an alternative method for importing into the iPod?

I searched all over for a working solution as well, but everything related to MNP was taken down. They must have gotten some heat from the actual MNP people, because the iphone version was called MNP-Lite.

    @Amiroo79

Maybe I'll do a reveal at 2k posts ;) Tx for the compliments!

so cool to see sites talking about my app

I'm glad everyone likes it so far with only some minor hitches with configuration'

I just have a suggestion... I have seen some pretty whacky filenames from seeqpod, with weird symbols inthe name like + signs and squiggly tildes. There's a small oversight within Finder that screws this up. Best advise is to rename it to something simple. I think spacebar might mess it also.

cool suggested features are coming in the next versions

    for the latest info:

    (hope thats allowed link)
    thanks for playing

    Hello Optimo!

    Welcome to the forums!

Thanks so much for your AVPlayer application, it truly has filled the void where MNP-Lite left off. I use AVPlayer quite a bit, and its always worked perfectly for me on my iPhone.

Also, please don't feel afraid to post links to your site and projects, this isn't Modmyifone! The adminstration there doesn't want you offlinking from their site because they have built MMi around harvesting impressions and clicks on all their sponsorship. I try to refrain from posting there myself because waiting on their scripts to turn words like "app" into links inside of posts, or parse google ads at the bottom of my posts is just more than I can handle.

We're a simple little community here, so welcome aboard, and if you're ever bored, head to the Off-Topic forum here, I'm sure you'll find that fun threads are always popping up :)

    Hey Optimo,

I posted this in 999's other thread about AVPlayer, but I'm having trouble getting my associations to work in MobileFinder. I set everything up according to the directions, but double-clicking an mp3 just goes up one directory. Any ideas?

And welcome to our community. Nice to have you here!

Frankyfingerz was experiencing the same problem in the software forum. We tried to tackle this through private messages and it ended up spilling over into a forum post. Towards the end I believe he nailed the problem and its now working for him.

You may want to search that post out, im on my iphone sans copy/paste, or PM him with what he did to get it going. He was rather persistent on getting it to work, so I'm sure hes got some suggestions.

Lastly, I'm sure you checked the preferences permissions correct? Since MobileFinder still works on 1.1.4 albiet flakily (new word by me i think), perhaps setting its permissions to 777 will allow them to save. Try looking in ~/Library for a Mobile Finder folder.

I'm sorted. Turning on "System File Access" (which is off by default) in MF solved it. I'm a downloadin'/double-clickin'/dancin' dude right now. Thanks to everyone involved in these various projects!

that's good info, I've had a few emails about this where it goes up a folder...

thank you for pursuing your goals

I am a real busy guy these days, but I have this thread bookmarked. I''m also monitorring avplayer support across 5 or so more forums. Including Chinese and Taiwanese iPhone forum.

I'll be checking in from time-to-time

x999x: good video of you setting up and configuring the app, I may be adding it to the app's homepage when I get time.
