does that iphone work as an ipod without registering it thru itunes

    Hey guys.... i have a question... my plan thru US cellular doesnt end till january and i would like an iphone now so i am wondering if it will work as an ipod and work with NES roms and such with out doing the set up process to make it work as a phone....

    I will work just fine without registration. The only thing that you won't have is cell service, but you can use WiFi and the iPod just fine.

    Unless you plan on activating through AT&T or Tmob sometime after January you may as well get an iPod Touch. If you do plan on activating some day then you are definitely able to get just the iPod and Wifi. Read around the Modification and Third Party Applications sub-forums a bit and you'll learn a lot of good stuff.

    o another quick question... what firmware does the iphone come stock with now is it the june firmware or do they ship it with the current firmware.... what is the best firmware for putting 3rd party apps on and if i need to downgrade.... do i just hit restore in itunes 7.5...
