I heard you can plug an ipod into the front usb and play through the xbox. Is this true and if so will the 3g do the same? IDK?

I just tried the iPod and played a song, and it did indeed work. As for the phone, I gave that a shot, but did not work. I don't see why it would not work though...

There's no support for the iPod touch or iPhone firmwares yet. My older iPod video doesn't even work anymore....the last firmware they put out for that isn't supported, either.

Yeah, it's all on Microsoft's side. I think anything before 1.2.2 for the older iPods will work fine. The Xbox 360 Dashboard is going to have a major overhaul released on Nov. 19th. Hopefully we'll see some updated support for Apple products with it.

If you upgraded your iPod firmware at anytime since November of 2007 you're hosed.

Can you please turn the caps lock off?

Good luck with it. The iPhone software and Xbox 360 software don't communicate. I don't think it matters how you hook it up.

This is from xbox.com/support. I'd post copy the link but I can't get through the filter at work...

Q: Can I play music from my iPhone or iPod touch?

A: No. The iPhone and iPod touch use a different mechanism for storing music than the traditional iPod, and the Xbox 360 console can't play music from those sources. However, you can browse pictures stored on these devices through the Media area on the Xbox 360 Dashboard.

And like I said before, some iPods aren't even supported anymore since their last firmware update. MS needs to do some work on their end so we can get support again.

So what makes you think the iPhone can't access the xbox amp? Thats what you need the breakout box for. What would be nice is if you can use a stick. Then you can copy, upload or download and expand your memory also you don't have to worry about them playin games with the updates. It would have to be doggled with an adapter to the bottom port and plug into any future docks. You gotta charge it anyway. everything but a remote? maby they'll let you tether the older models.

I like think I'm a technical kind of guy buy I don't even know what this means. I even had to Google "breakout box" and that seems over my head, too LOL.

If you can find a cheap and easy solution to make an Xbox 360 work with an iPhone please post it. I'd be very grateful. Til then, we're hosed.

How do you pull stuff down from the web? meaning, you don't have any problem streaming or downloading from the web in either format till filed, that's
Material that isn't formatted for a specific OS -a breakout box could allow you
To extract or input any information that it's designed for, I saw a garage band box on the web, but that's not enough for what people are asking for here and it's not out yet.
