Can I Update to IOS 5

Hi everyone,

This is my first post. Kindly Help me. I have iphone 4 with the following specifications:

1. Version: 4.3.3 (8J2)
2. Model: MC604C
3. Model Firmware: 04.10.01

I bought it from canada and using in bahrain using Gevey Sim as it was locked. I have not jailbroken it till date and dont wish to do so.
Can anyone advice me if I can update this to iOS5 using the present gevey sim. I heard from many people that the phone gets locked during the update and it is difficult to restore.
I am a totally newbie with regards to iphone. Kindly advice.

as Far as I know, Gevey Wont work on IOS 5.1 despite saving your baseband.!! so better Dont Update to Ios 5.1 until a concrete Msg doesnt comes from hackers who are working with UNLOCKING BB such as 4.10, 4.11, 4.12.
