I believe the word is "precedent"... it would be a very bad one to set to allow browser mods of apps.

It wouldn't be hidden if the people who approve apps actually read the code that was submitted.
It's genius to use that method call because it means the user can't do it by accident. And since volume isn't a private API, Apple shouldn't have pulled it. Stop defending Apple for once. You all know that it's ridiculous for an app that everyone wants to get pulled for that reason.

I agree. It wouldn't hurt Apple or the iPhone to have this feature.

I gave up on trying to rationalize Apple's decisions, wishing they would givie us all these useful features (ya know, the ones that confuse us) and sending requests for them a long time ago. It's never going to happen. We might get a few of them here and there, but the few that we get usually aren't as good as the jailbroken apps you can get in Cydia. Think portrait mode lock compared to Rotation Inhibitor and stock fast app switching compared to Backgrounder and ProSwitcher. I just hope we'll continue to be able to jailbreak.

This sums up how I feel, Apple needs to get their crap together, at this rate Cydia will outgrow them.
