After jailbreaking my iPhone 4 with jailbreakme I starting seeing drastic battery drain when compared to the phone not being jailbroken. I'd go to bed with the phone at 100% battery and wake up 6 hours later with the battery at 86%. Nothing was running during this time. During the day, with little use, the battery would be down to 40% or so. After a week of this I decided to restore my phone and not jailbreak it.

This morning, after 6 hours sleep, my phone was still at 100% battery. In the last 5 hours I have lost only 2% of the battery power.

    Anyone else having this problem?

When I first jailbreak I could see the battery drain so fast. I had to restore for other reason but when I jailbreak the second time the battery is back to normal. Don't know what fixed it.

I jailbroke my iPhone and I didn't have too big of an issue with battery drain. But now that I've installed a few more cydia apps, it's becoming more noticeable.

I'm thinking that Activator is what's consuming a lot of the power. I just enabled it to activate MMS, Phone, and Camera using swipes on the status bar. I didn't notice much battery drain before I activated these gestures.

Does anyone have any knowledge of any other cydia apps consuming lots of extra power? 5 icon dock? Frash?

Here is the list of cydia packages I currently have installed:
    Activator
    AddCallHistory
    Anonymous Email
    APT 0.7 HTTPS Method
    BENM.AT Source GUI
    BigBoss's Source
    CyDelete
    Cydia Community Source
    Cydia Installer
    Cyntact
    Dev-Team
    FakeCarrier
    FakeLocation
    Five Icon Dock
    Frash
    iForum X
    ModMyi.com
    NES 3
    PDANet (OFF)
    Recent Call Log Delete
    RockApp
    Saurik's Source
    Signal
    Source GUI
    SpringBoardAccess
    Veency (OFF)
    WinterBoard
    xGPS
    ZodTTD's Source
    3G Unrestrictor

    Thanks!

The only cydia apps I had installed were:

    20 Second Lock Screen
    at&t Carrier Logo
    Lock Calendar with Cydget
    Rock
    SBSettings
Veency (off unless I needed it)
    Veency SBSettings Toggle

I don't see where any of these would hog the battery!

SBSettings hogs the battery. I had it installed on my 3G, and it would drain the battery completely in a couple hours. I learned the hard way after it drained the battery completely overnight and the alarm clock didn't work because the phone was off.

I think there is an issue to battery use when JB'd. I don't think it's as drastic as yours. I do know that with some use (email, checking weather, a few websites), three or four hours after I wake up, my phone is down to about 75%. I don't think that's too bad.

I do think there is a difference though.

Planetbeing had some tweets about his app and increased battery usage because it now runs in the back ground. Also tweeted something with one of the things that jailbreaking modifies.

My battery was draining extremely fast. I converted back to a non JB after a couple of days. Battery is perfect again. Unless there is a fix no JB for me. :(

I can't live without a JB lol. I always have my extra cords, plugs, and backup battery (sleeve that charges the iPhone). Hopefully, an answer can be given about this.

I read that both the unlock and app signal are draining the batteries. I just removed signal to see if the battery drain would be better

Do you have OpenSSH on their. I guess this can hog the battery if it is not closed via SBSettings

I have also noticed a huge battery drainage issue. I got to work this morning with 98% battery life and now I am down to 90% and I have only been here for an hour without using my phone at all. It's as if I can sit and watch the battery go down as I sit here.

14% in 6 hours sounds normal to me. :dunno: I use Yourmuze.fm app every morning to listen to Opie and Anthony...that app REALLY drains the batter. I'll leave home at 96%...2 hours later I'm down to like 30%

Does SSH drain the battery? I'm going to give it a try. I just have to remember to turn it on when I need it. Hopefully I don't freak out that it's not working when in trying to SSH lol.

It does and I have done that a couple of times resulting in a swift kick of the pc because i am not about to kick the phone. Plus the switch is to high in the server closet.

That's odd that so many of you are having battery issues. I have noticed no change. I do not do that many JB apps. SB Settings, IrealSMS and a few others. But I have had no battery issues at all. (((Knock on wood)))

I use my phone a lot. Mainly because of work. But so far. Not a issue for me.

No, I do not have Open SSH. I'm at least glad that I am not the only one with the battery drain when jailbroken.

it's not SBSettings... I uninstalled that a few days ago and battery drainage still sucks.

Going to reinstall it and just live with a badass phone with horrible battery.

Keep in most of this jailbroken software was written for a completely different processor and energy subsystem. The A4 SIAC does remarkable things to noticeably extend battery life, but I would suspect that jailbreak software might not be hip to the new power saving features of the iP4. Just a guess.
