I have auto correction/spell check turned on (which I really appreciate) - HOWEVER...
Whenever I type the word "in", it gets changed to "i'n".

It is really frustrating - it is a pretty common word in English, whereas "I'n" must be some really obscure contraction.

My autocorrection always tries to correct the short version of my name, Kev, to keV. Go figure...

Usually when this happens it means there's a contact in your addresses with that word in it... Maybe their name or email or something.

You too??? LOL. I thought it was because I may have accidentally typed it that way, in a text, and sent it away to a friend of mine named Kevin aka kev. I thought it was going off of history.

An eV is a unit of energy. A keV is kilo electron volt. A Kev is a really, really cool guy. :)

Is there any way to ignore some spellings -
Most spell checkers allow you to add to the dictionary - I can't find that capability on my ip4.

When it pops up, you could click on it, and it will go away.

I thought this was only happening to me! When I'd type your name, it would go to keV, like it did there. Lol

You can't manually add words to the dictionary, but if you decline the suggestion three or five times (never heard an official number), your iPhone should then add that word to your dictionary.

My iPad has started replacing my name, Rik, with "RIK" months ago. I continue to tap the selection to refuse the change, but it continues. From the other replies here, I think this is something Apple should look into. How do I make this suggestion?

You can add a custom phrase in the Keyboard settings.

Go to Settings -> General -> Keyboard -> Add New Shortcut...

Type "Rik" in the first box and leave the second box blank, tap Save, and it should stop suggesting a correction for "Rik" in the future

If that doesn't seem to work, then try resetting the keyboard dictionary under Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Keyboard Dictionary

Got the everythingiCafe app on your iPad? You can upload a profile picture from there in the Profile tab.

If not, you can upload one by logging into the iCafe forum from your computer. (Safari on the iPad can't do uploads until iOS 6 comes out this fall)

To do it on your computer, open the user menu by mousing over your name at the top right, and click on the picture to open the picture upload menu.

I LOVE the auto correct. I'm such a lousy speller and on my pad it's great for entering the apostrophe. Now especially when I've learned that I can add new words and remove the errored ones.

I love the autocorrect too. On my iPad it isn't quite as good for me as the iPhone's autocorrect--there are some differences in the way it behaves. I'm used to the way it works on my iPhone, and it isn't quite the same on my iPad, even when I split the keyboard in two to thumb type.

But in either case, I can type a lot faster with it on, and only have to lightly scold it every now and then when it does something wrong, rather than constantly have to backspace backspace backspace if I did not turn on autocorrect.

You can change the auto-correct settings to where it doesn't change the word on it's own. Therefore, any typo's you make will not automatically be fixed. You would have to tap on the word with the red underline and tap on the correct word from there.
