Am I the only one not using a screen protector?

The Otterbox Defender case? I love it! I don't think I will ever change cases again. I use to use the cheap cases $.99 but they aren't good enough.

To answer the original question of this thread --- I've used protectors since the beginning because I'm just nuts and anal about having the phone's screen perfect when I trade in.. Of course a 'naked' phone is WAAAY better feeling than even the Zagg shields and others I've used. Nothing like naked.. BUT -- I fell into the trap of a thread on one of the other forums that said -- he's NEVER used a protector and never had a single scratch... I though -- no WAY.. My first iPhone was made with the corning Gorilla glass too - wasn't it? But it got so many little scratched. Granted you had to turn the phone a certain way in the light to see them - but I hated seeing them. From 3GS on - I've used Zagg - until this argument of IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO SCRATCH GORILLA GLASS by the phone staying in your pocket.. I though - okay - -MAYBE they improved it - and not with my 4S about a month ago - I went naked again... Uggggggh... Now when I look at my phone -- SCRATCHES EVERYWHERE.. No I don't let kids touch it - YES it's in a protective shell case (Not Otter) - Yes it's always in my pocket - NO there isn't any SAND that gets in my pocket (Sand is like glass and CAN scratch Gorilla glass). It's just in my pocket - all day every day with nothing else -- or in my hand.. So - when iPhone 5 comes out -- I'm back to Zagg shields -- And I will never again believe the 'liars' that say - they have NO scratches on their iPhone going naked. I'll just know that they don't know how to turn their phones in such a way as to SEE all the scratches they actually have. It's a very special angle in very particular light you need to have to see the true surface of your phones. But the reps who take your phone on trade in at Best Buy know how to check for scratches when determining your trade in value.

So YES -- I'll ALWAYS and FOREVER - going forward use screen protection. It's SOOO worth the $.

Same as above for me except of trading in. I usually don't do that. But I have my iPod in my pocket all the time and I'd just go nuts if I had scratches on the glass. With protector, I can easily apply a new one (well, I hope the old protector would come off if I had to...)

No protector on my 4s, just a griffin rubber see through case, not 1 scratch, pristine! If you look after your phone your screen will not scratch! Simples

See-though case? That means you have something covering the glass? That's very different. Unless I'm misunderstanding you.

I take HUGE care of my phone and never let it anywhere but my clean cotton pocket with nothing else in there. I'll bet if I had your phone in my hand I could show you 'zillions' of little scratches on your glass. I'm now convinced more than ever - that ALL people who go 'naked' have LOTS of micro scratches - and you just don't know how to turn your phone in the proper light to truly see the surface of your glass. Most people can't without someone showing them. I've shown my friends who go without a protector these last few days- and in 100% of the cases (4 friends who go without a protector) they're BLOWN away when I show them how scratched their glass is. It's just pretty tricky to see the real surface of your glass.

Bright sunlight is the best place.. Tip the phone about 20% to the left or right of flat when the sun's right overhead. Then you'll see the surface of your phone and be 'blown away' by how many micro-scratches you have. I thought I was losing it -- until I started checking friends' phones that go naked. (protector-less).. I assure you, Mariouk, you have scratches too..

I use an Otterbox Defender on my iPhone 4 and it has a screen covering the screen. I take it out every two weeks to clean everything, but the screen itself on the iPhone 4 is in perfect condition. The whole iPhone is. :)

Well yes. Of course the phone cover glass will be in perfect condition when there's something covering the screen. That's the whole point. I've participated in several forums where this topic invariably comes up. Let's face it - the iPhone is the coolest looking and feeling SmartPhone on the market today - without question. The first time I held my original 2G in my hand I was immediately aware of something amazing and game-changing in the world of electronics. It was a little slippery and so I wanted to make sure to protect it from falling - but I thought the glass was tough enough. I found out I was wrong. And from my 3GS on - I decided that I just wanted to make sure my screen was pristine for the whole life of the phone.

But so many people out there - say - "hey, it's not a plastic screen like a TREO anymore - it's CORNING GLASS, DUDE! It can't be scratched except my something as hard as it".. Then why do our phones that stay in our cases in our pants STILL get scratched so profusely when you don't use a screen protector?

I will admit - that I think what my issue has been - this time - and was at the beginning before I started using Zagg Invisishields - is that I don't like to add BULK to my phone. I want it to slip in and out of my pocket easily. And Otter Box doesn't allow that. SO - I end up preferring the Luxe Original by iFrogz and those types of 'slim line' cases. NOW -- when the phone will occasionally fall from my lap to the floor of my car or from lap to my rug (not even hard wood flooring).. and go face down -- there isn't enough CASE surrounding on the front face to prevent it from coming into contact with grit (sandy grit will scratch even Corning Glass) on the floor. That's where cases like OtterBox Defender are real champs.

So I will conceded my argument - that if you use OTTER BOX and really thick cases like that it's very likely you can go without a screen protector and not have any scratches - ever.. But there's still a lot of you out there that I'm sure can't see the scratches on your glass because you don't know how to see the real surface of the phone.

But I don't want to beat a dead horse here. Thanks for your thoughts, everyone... (Trust me.. look again.. I'll bet your phone glass is scratched if you have not protector..)

I don't have any scratches, and I baby this thing, as I have with all previous devices... Not one scratch in any light. Also there is nothing covering the front glass.

I've been using the standard Zag for the past 2 years, but last week I switched over to the Ghost Armor Screen protector and I am loving it.

You are really annoying. If we wanted cheap Korean crap we would come and view your eBay shop. Now leave us and this forum alone!

I didn't use to use a screen protector but broke a case during softball season - so I bought a tougher case and it came with the plastic screen protector. Now that softball is over I went back to a smaller case and found I didn't like all the fingerprints so I now have a cheap non glare protector - I love it!

I've always used a case, but the front screen is open and unprotected. Never really scratched it until recently. If anything I'll prolly ditch a case for my next phone and just get the sticker shields for the front and back. My friend swears by his ZAGG "case" which is what I'll probably end up using. See if I can put up with the distortion from sticking a sticker on it, however clear. But I think I'll like the protection w/o the bulkiness.

No screen protector here as well. I do use a Mophie case and it has a lip where the glass won't sit flat on surface...
