updating and jailbreaking unlocked iphone

My friend has a 1st generation (original) iPhone. It is unlocked, but I don't know witch program he used. The phone is running firmware 1.0.2 and uses T-Mobile. Anyway, I'm trying to help him jailbreak it so that he can update it, as he is not able to right now, becuase the phone is unlocked, but not jailbroken. Please tell me about any program that I can use to jailbreak his iPhone on 1.0.2 WITHOUT relocking it or restoring it. Please help. Any useful advise is appreciated. Thank you

If it's a first gen, you should be able to update in iTunes, and rejailbreak and unlock with quickpwn.
