Exclamation Stay away from 'Kate'

The new Caterpillar, now known as Kate should be avoided. I downloaded it and enabled everything - the calendar, fonts, etc. Upon reboot to have the changes take effect, the phone froze.

I rebooted it via SSH, but it then started going into verbose mode. I rebooted again, and it booted this time. However, all my settings has been reset and the icon order was in the Apple preset. I can fix that, but every time I reboot or respring, I see flashing black and white lines for about five seconds, and then settings and icon order are reset. Now I have to restore.

Ouch - thanks for the heads-up. That is one of those apps that I've always felt a little shy of - glad I have now ...

I installed this today with no problem. I un-installed it because it's not very useful to me. End of story.

You said "lines".. are these VERTICAL LINES? That get bright then fade out... I went through this. So I worked my way around to getting a new phone.

Try doing a restore of your backup? I just did this, and it saved me a ton of time. It will leave the current apps on your phone. The icons will get scattered is all.

I just installed Kate and have no problems with it.
Those of you who are having problems I assume have SUID library installed I hope, cause everything you are experiencing is what I had before installing SUID library fix. Forgive me if the name is incorrect, and also dock cannot be installed.
I love Caterpillar Kate whatever its called.
