Stay away from 'Kate' - Page 12

had to do a complete restore after Kate screwed up my phone. Used ziphine to unlock and jailbreak. Then got all my data back from back up. Got everything back except all the apps. Now installer is downloading the apps but the install fails and I get an error MSG. What is the problem with installer now? Never had a problem with it earlier. Pls help.

I downloaded Kate a while back and it screwed up my phone, was forced to pay 70 dollars to fix it (sent it to a professional)... I got it back in good shape but i didnt set up a new partnership in iTunes as i thought it wasn't a problem. Its been a good week now, and today i turned on my phone the programs were not responsive (like in Kate). So i turned it off and then on again, and everything worked fine. I haven't downloaded Kate since i received my phone or anything else that may be dangerous. But my question is that may it be possible that this will happen again. Will i be forced to restore and pay the 70 dollars again. or may this just be some sort of one-time glitch...

lol man, why did u have to pay 70$ to someone to fix it ? when restoring your phone is a 5 min job and a realy easy one, you should have asked for help in this forum

I followed the instructions above and had trouble - the iPhone was stuck in the apple screen.

After some hacking the missing file was
/Library/MobileEnhancer/MobileEnhancer.dylib

Make sure you do not erase this file.
Also there may be other important stuff in this directory (such as cyrillic keyboard which I need) so be careful with this directory, do not delete it without proper checking in advance.

Otherwise after the above, kate was gone from my iPhone (sigh)

That was one piece of software that was hard to get rid of!

I just want a decent custom EQ so Kate is the only option unless someone knows of another bit of software?

deleting that mobile enhancer file is a definite no-no i did the same and got the stuck apple screen, had to do a full restore

Is there any way of finding out when you first installed kate (ie expiry dates)

Be careful with Kate's EQ. When enabled, all your voicemail is played back as static. I have reported the problem and the developer's have stated that it is a known issue. It is the only problem I have with this suite.

So since I finally got rid of Kate...She is back to "jiggle" my icons every once in a while. Nothing happens, or has happened yet but when I see it happening I open up an application right away and it seems to cure it once I return to the home screen. I have not just let it sit there and wiggle them around though. I did wait longer one time and it seemed to lag into the application i opened. It didn't load it right away and it usually opens up quick.

Has anyone experienced this with Kate after removal of her debauchery?

I foolishly tried Kate last night. I already have IntelliScreen on my lock page so if I'd found more detaisl about what Kate actually does I'd have left it well alone. As far as I could see, after install, it seem to have done nothing. Obviously IntelliScreen already had the lock page so uCalendar wasn't there. I also have modded settings etc so there wasn't a section Settings->RiPDev (which is where it said to look for settings for Kate;s modules).

I did have a brief experience of touchscreen locking but managed to get this peice of crap removed with only Apple icons getting reset to original positions and everything else randomly shuffled.

From reading this thread (which I wish I'd found earlier) it seems I got off lightly!

While I understand that RiPDev can't test for compatibility with all applications, if people have reported problems, they ought to put warnings somewhere.

As well as Intelliscreen, I also have Screenshot (which was mentioned as having possible conflicts) plus a whole bunch of other stuff.

Just glad to have got rid of it without too much difficulty.

It definitely should not be a *featured* app in Installer!
