Exclamation Messed up big time... HELP!

I have a 16GB iPod Touch. It's running 1.1.4. I jailbroke it with ZiPhone, then added some sources and some applications to my iPod.

Then since some of them didn't work, I went into WinSCP and changed the version from 1.1.4 to 1.1.3. Later I installed the BossTools v0.35 and chose "Relocate Applications" so I could free up some space for more applications.

Then I went back to work, and my iPod quickly died. I plugged it into my computer, and my battery didn't charge to over 10% after being there for an hour or so.

I was in Installer, and the screen froze, and I turned my iPod off. I rebooted my iPod, and it took about 5 minutes. Then a blank screen came up. I have NO APPLICATIONS at all.

There is NOTHING there.

iTunes won't detect my iPod and neither will ZiPhone to unjailbreak it. The battery is almost dead, and I've tried putting the iPod into restore mode, and that doesn't work. I've tried every USB port on my laptop and nothing works.

I'm running the latest version of iTunes. I need help really bad because my iPod has a blank screen with nothing on it and I can't fix it and iTunes won't detect it for me to restore it and PLEASE any solutions at all!!!

Not certain because I have never done it myself, but I thought I read that if you hold the home and lock buttons together for over 30 seconds, it will prompt you to connect to itunes to restore.

Again, I could be wrong here, but either way I wish you the best of luck. I know that sucks!!

Yep, DFU mode with save the day.

Power the phone down by holding the Power and Home buttons. When the phone turns off, let go of the power button and continue to hold the home button. While still holding the home button, put your iphone into it's dock with iTunes open. Itunes should recognize the phone in recovery mode.

I've not heard of one Brick when it comes to iphones and ipods. The only "brick" that ever "was" were users who had their basebands borked by Anysim and the 1.1.2 firmware update. Didn't matter much since 1.1.3 reflashed those very same basebands and "brought them back to life."

Like he said, try the various restore modes (DFU restore, etc...)

The problem here is you wiped out the core OS functions but I would imagine there has to be a way to reload the whole OS back onto it.

Manofthedark, let us know how it goes with this thing. I've always been curious about what happens if you erase everything with WinSCP.

GOOD LUCK!!!

I've literally pulled my iphone out of the dock during the 1.1.4 flashing process just to see what would happen. I reckon you're pretty screwed at that point no?

Interestingly, DFU mode still worked. It must reside in its own memory bank somewhere, because I was certain I could brick my phone if I pulled it out while the firmware was being flashed. I mean typically thats a death sentance for any hardware going through a crucial update like that.

Hats off to Apple.

My thoughts exactly. I think there is a spot in memory that is unaffected and that's where the phone looks to when doing the DFU restore. If that's true, then indeed, hats off to Apple as a power outage for even normal users could corupt the OS and render the phone useless. They have to have thought of that.

What good will DFU mode do if his iPhone wont charge, nor be detected by iTunes? Then he said DFU mode didn't work.
