You can't choose the web text to copy. Think of the text as being in a cell. It will copy the whole cell for you, or at least up to the CR/LF of a block of text.
I got 'good' with it by playing around with it in notepad.
I haven't used hClipboard since.
So you can't select, for instance, an individual sentence out of a paragraph? I thought you could.
I was using Notes as well.

If the text is EDITABLE you can select certain portions of it. If it isn't editable, like in say Safari, then you have to copy the entire paragraph. Later you can paste it in notepad and edit it down though.
In notepad it should be easy to select certain portions, just double tap and hold, then drag. Did you try that? Look in my screen shots in the OP.
You can also select/highlight in email. Just touch/hold. The magnify glass will appear. Keep your finger on the screen. The magnify glass will lighten up. Remove your finger. Options should pop up to copy, paste, stack, cut, etc.

Right, that goes back to the editable text. Notepad, email, webaddress, anywhere where you have a pop-up keyboard. When there's no keyboard, you can't touch a drag. Only copy the whole paragraph by touching and holding.

Okay. I was only referring to Safari as far as copying text. I guess I just find hClipboard better in that respect. I can select what text I want to copy in Safari without moving it to Notes and editing it down. That's what I like about hClipboard.

I didn't think hClipboard can copy static web content because the only way to activate hClipboard is to activate the keyboard in an editable field. Am I wrong?

There are a couple of bookmarklets that allow you to copy web text with hClipboard.; I use it all the time for this.

Somebody needs to make a video so napolean can understand lol.
With hClipboard you can only copy text that you can edit, like SMS, notes, email, etc. But in things like safari, you can only copy the text that is in the URL/google bar.
With clippy, just open up a webpage, like EIC and hold your finger over a paragraph. The menu pops up, copy it. Then web you need to paste it, just hold your finger down and hit paste. then you can delete the parts of it that you don't want. You don't have to hold down the delete key on the keyboard, you can select whatever you want, like the first 3 sentences, and when it is highlighted you can either cut, or hit delete on the keyboard.
I understand what Napoleon is talking about, and he's right. That bookmarklet he is talking about really gives hClipboard an edge over Clippy as far as copying Safari text. In that respect, hClipboard retains value.
As for the other 95% of text in the iPhone, hClipboard can't copy it. So in another respect, it sucks.
My solution is to use them both in conjunction, with Clippy being used a LOT more.

Perhaps I should make a video of me copying text from a web page; I do it all the time, and I'm not talking about URLs and editable text.
"Just like Clippy, one of limitiations of ℏClipboard as a keyboard extension is that it can only be used where iPhone's virtual keyboard could be enabled, so you cannot use it to copy text from iPhone's Safari browser. However, developer of aptly named CopyingTextFromSafari has provided a workaround to copy text from a webpage or the entire webpage on your iPhone using ℏClipboard. You can follow the instructions mentioned here to add the bookmarklets. You can then use the bookmarklet to copy the entire contents of the webpage or the bookmarklet to copy text from a webpage in conjunction with ℏClipboard."
I find this procedure extremely easy and I use it often.
