So how to you copy web content with Clippy?

Like I just did with the line above.

Hold over text to copy until clippy pops up then hit copy.

Then to to where you want to paste and hold again until clippy pops up. You then paste clipboard or stack.

Just touch and hold your find on the content. Then select copy. I noticed you can't press down too hard or it won't activate clippy.

But do you have to copy the entire area of selected text, or can you choose which part of the text to copy? That's the feature I like most about hClipboard.

You can only get a line or cell, by then hClipboard only does editable boxes.

Horses for courses.

I thought hClipboard was not capable of copying from static web content.

It copies by paragraph when the text is non-editable, and by letter if the text is editable (you can touch a drag the selection you want). hClipboard, in contrast, needs to be able to pop up the keyboard to be able to copy, i.e. only editable text. In other words, Clippy wins by leaps and bounds over hClipboard since Clippy does everything hClipboard can do, plus MUCH more, since I think less than 5% of the text you read on your iPhone is editable.

I edited the OP with screen shots if you would like to see how it looks!

Now I have a question for you guys: Don't you think it would incredibly smart of Apple to simply go against the established guidelines and APPROVE of this app for the App Store? They would make millions and millions of people extremely happy, and finally get rid of that annoying crowd of people who have been pestering them for copy and paste since June 29, 2007.

I hadn't figures the hold 'n' highlight. That makes it even better.

What I can't yet figure is why there's a need for an SB settings add on to disable it. Is it a memory hog?

Good question! My knee jerk reaction was to be excited when I saw the SBsettings Clippy toggle, until I thought about it and realized that I would never turn it off. No it is not a memory hog at all.

Well, folks, I'm just not getting it, I guess. I'm finding Clippy to be kludgy at best. Whenever I double-tap and hold on web text, I get a small box that gives me two options: Copy and Stack. I haven't yet been able to select text and highlight what I actually want to copy, so I guess I just don't get it.

Unless someone can point out to me what I'm doing wrong, it's back to the easy-to-use (at least for me), ever-reliable hClipboard.

You can't choose the web text to copy. Think of the text as being in a cell. It will copy the whole cell for you, or at least up to the CR/LF of a block of text.

I got 'good' with it by playing around with it in notepad.

I haven't used hClipboard since.
