It's funny, I just saw a post on craigslist about someone going to wait at Valley Fair. You might want to get in touch with him.

I'm not sure how early to go. I just read a rumor about 500 iPhones per apple store, which seems like a lot:

Going to Valley Fair; not sure what time I will arrive.

Any word on where the line will form? What time the mall will let people start waiting in line?

Going to scope it out tomorrow. I'm planning on going Friday morning sometime, probably early. I keep getting torn between thinking this is like the PS3 launch and thinking, "Each store has 100s of phones, relax."

Not much activity in this thread. Maybe nobody is planning to go to Valley Fair ... maybe it will just be me and torrentprime ... we'll just waltz in at 6 pm, buy our iPhones and be on our merry way.

Yeah, I keep going back and forth on how early to go. The announcement about allowing 2 phones per buyer at Apple stores makes me thing that there's going to be a boatload available, so I shouldn't worry too much.

Oakridge: There are a few people in line now, but the Apple Store employee is pretty sure they will get kicked out from the mall at closing time and maybe even off the mall property entirely. He also said they would be in at 8 and to feel free to call in to hear how long the line is. The mall opens at 10.

Valley Fair. Less clue than the Oakridge guy, but the store opens at 10. Mall doors tend to open around 9:30 or so, but see below:

I called Valley Fair (the mall people) and got much better info: Line can start at 10 PM tonight. Both the Cingular store and the Apple Store will have official lines, each at the entrance nearest to the store. Apple Line will be at the main entrance, by Lori's Diner.

As always, take all this with a grain of salt: one mall employee may not be right.

Yeah, that made me feel better (and worse, since now I have to argue with myself all night if I'm really going to buy two).
