If your under 60 it's definately better to not get a flu shot, and actually better to get the flu as often as possible because you build up immunity to it over time, kinda like a bee keeper who gets stung hundreds of times but it dosent affect him.

No thanks. I don't plan on walking in reverse for the rest of my life.

Tragic outcome for this lady and there is no cure. This is a rare reaction to vaccines but it does happen. I have refused flu vaccines since there inception and I definitely will not be taking the H1N1 vaccine either. Plenty of people have gotten swine flu and have recovered....just as with the regular flu. The media is really causing a hysteria with this issue. People died from the flu before Swine flu came along but you never heard anything about it. I am exposed to flu patients constantly on my job and I still will not be taking the vaccine. People under 25 are most at risk because their immunity isn't as strong from lack of exposure. Pay attention if your child (or you) gets the flu. If they don't feel better in a couple of days....take them to a doctor. Loss of appetite is normal but most people drink fluids without a problem. If they feel really bad right off the bat and can't eat or drink....or have a very high fever.....take them to a doctor sooner. Any complaints of stomach pain or discomfort...go to the doctor. Even after going to the doctor you STILL must be vigilant. If they feel worse the day after going to the doctor...go BACK to the doctor. Sometimes an emergency room visit is better because they see so much of what is going on with patients who are sicker than normal. You can't let it go on for an extended period.
I am by no means an expert but I am a nurse that works with children in a large hospital so I have seen this Swine flu in action....and death from it. These are the things I would do to protect me and loved ones.
We have all experienced the flu so just stay alert to the symptoms. The best defense is FAST treatment.
London mentioned vitamin B. I also read Vitamin D is important. People don't go out much in winter and Vitamin D is deficient from lack of exposure to sunlight.

The newsletter for August covers this and it may not be out yet. This is the vaccine adjuvant that is strongly linked to the Gulf War syndrome, which killed over 10,000 soldiers and caused a 200% increase in the fatal disease ALS (Lou Gehreg disease). This virus H1N1 kills by causing a “cytokine storm”, which means that it cause the body’s immune system to overreact and that is why it is killing young people and is a mild disease in the elderly. (The elderly have weakened immune systems.) This vaccine is a very powerful immune stimulator and carries the real possibility of making the lethality of the virus much greater.
That's BS. A weakened immune system is no more a normal part of aging than Alzheimer's disease is.

I haven't missed an annual flu shot since the early 90's when I was in the military and skipping it was not an option. I'm a nurse and since heath care workers have frequent exposure, we have to sign a waiver if we wish to decline vaccination. Not getting the vaccine puts our coworkers and patients at risk, so I'm a strong advocate of vaccination. I haven't received the H1N1 vaccination yet, but only because I work nights and I'm too lazy to go in and get it in the daytime. They offer the annual flu shots early in the morning, so I get it right after work, but the hours aren't as good for the H1N1. I'm waiting for them to come around with the "flu vaccine cart" while I'm working.

This is media sensationalism. What happened to this girl is extremely sad. However, thousands of people die needlessly every year as a result of not getting vaccinated. You have to look at the numbers. Her case is a one in a million.

The CDC/WHO has not "freaked out" any more than they have in the past when a strain became a pandemic.

A lot of health professionals refuse the vaccine. The way I see it is I am the one at risk. I just stay home if I get sick. While the reaction in the video is rare...it is definitely a serious side effect.
