The specs on my new toy
So, I got a Dell... Dude.
 It's an inspiron 1420. The specs:2.4GHz Core 2 Duo 3M L2 Cache, 800 MHz FSB 4 GB of Ram 320GB Samsung HDD 128MB nVidia GeForce Graphic Card 14.1" Widescreen, Glossy With the nVidia, I get 1440 x 900. Not too shabby. So far, I haven't even come close to hitting 100% CPU usage. Even though it's currently running Vista, it's still blazing fast. I prefer this computer overall to my MBP, but I would take a BlackBook or an Air over this. Pound for pound, it'll hold its own. If Apple products didn't have the "Apple Tax" then I would have stayed in the family. No worries, still LOVE my iMac.

Sounds good - especially the 4GB of RAM. Vista still seems scary bad though

My mom just ordered a Dell Inspiron with Vista. I could not convince her to get Mac. She is excited. She had a Dell LT, then an HP. She liked the Dell much better. The HP was a POS that always had problems.
