One of the posts in the thread you provided had a link to studies by CNW Research. I'm not going to pretend to know who they are let alone their validity but as I said in the other thread; the extra cost of the Prius outweighs to gas savings for several years when compared to a non-hybrid, similarly performing vehicle. If you're not all about the savings in gas then that is fine. Helping the environment can never really be a bad thing but there are other ways to do so than paying a premium for a hybrid.

Amongst midsize cars the Toyota Prius Hybrid (48/45 mpg) is $2.191 per mile to own while the comparable Nissan Versa (26/31 mpg) is $0.893 per mile.

I have nothing against Hybrids, they are just not my cup of tea.

Between 60 and 80, depending on curves. We took freeways up and the PCH back down.

that's an incredible amount of miles per gallon that you're getting. No doubt about that.
To me it all boils down to if you "like" it. I don't think it's a wise investment, but buying any car is NEVER considered to be an investment unless you're a "collector.". But since that doesn't matter, congrads.
The $600 bucks or whatever I paid for my 1st gen iPhone wasn't very fiscally responsible, either. But that played NO part in me obtaining a peice of cutting-edge technology now did it?

I'm no pro on the matter, but of of the guys on that forum are pros, and they TRULY are fired up about it, lol.

I just thought I'd post this, perhaps to clear up some confusion that I've seen over the past few days. Feel free to flame me - I don't care one way or the other. I just like to have facts to back things up.

I'm glad you posted this, Ramesh. Not necessarily because of the subject matter, but because I'm a big believer in researching *anything* I read on the 'net before I accept it as gospel. The internet is a great source of useful information, but it's also a fountain of half-truths and just plain bad info. Yes, it takes a little longer to reply to many people because of this, but it's worth it in the long run to at least get most of the facts correct.
